Okay, so what do we do when we think that we've become a backslider? How do we go back to be a good christian or whatever? Sorry if these questions seem too easy, I just think I might be a backslider and I have questions. Thanks!

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

My husband and I are unable to get to Church on a regular basis. Our reason? We don't have a car. We have had others take us, but for some reason or another they end up not being able to take all 3 of us anymore (we have a young daughter). We are running out of options to get to Church.....and we depend on the kindness of others to help us out.

Do I think we are backsliders? No.

We desire to get to Church. We are unable to, though.

We stay in the Word of God and prayer and even Worship here at the house together.

It is, however, more difficult a walk when you aren't in Church being fed the Word of God.

I have heard it said that the longer one stays out of Church, the harder it is for them to walk back into one.

That may be true....but I pray daily that I never get to that point. We jump at every single opportunity that comes our way to get into the House of God.

Many posters said something along the lines of "it's not how often you get to Church or don't get to Church that makes you a backslider....its' the condition of the heart."

I would agree with that.

Our hearts desire to serve God....our hearts desire to be in Church every single service.....and once we get a car, as often as those Church doors are open we will be there....bringing others who can't get there for whatever reason along with us for the Glory of God!

The most faithful christians I've met aren't religious. Religion can sometimes put a wedge between our faith. I believe finding a good church is like a needle in a haystack. Love & Faith are the most important things for us in this life. Love by default fulfills the ten commandments & the law.

If you are saved and you are not going to church on a regular basis, Are you considered a backslider? Do you really have to go to church evertime the doors are open to live for God?

I think you're asking the wrong question here.

If you are, indeed, a saved Christian, then why would this be an issue? Fellowship with other Christians is a natural part of a Christian lifestyle. Consider the example of the early church:

Acts 2:42-47

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

I agree with you completely steve...and if one is too busy to worship God with other believers in fellowship, then they are too busy doing 'perhaps' the wrong things. However, I don't know the original poster's, soldier's, situation, so I don't know WHY it is, soldier, that you're too busy to not be able to set aside 1 hour per week to worship our Lord. Only you know that, and it is not for me or anyone else to judge. And someone said that it IS a condition of our heart. I agree with that wholeheartedly.

In addition, our LORD gave the commandment to keep the sabbath holy...to me, that is ONE day in which we could take a 'rest' from our busy busy lives and give one hour completely to Him our Creator to worship Him in Spirit and Truth. That is MY opinion...but we all have our own walks and 'opinions' of what the Lord is calling us to do. Peace and blessings!

I've said it before and I will say it again... Church IS NOT ONLY a building you go to every Sunday... The bible says anywhere 2 believers fellowship together is a church... SO if it be at home with your family worshipping the Lord or at a Church building with a large or small congrigation, in your front yard with friends, at work fellowshipping witha Christian friend...

Personally i enjoy attending my quaint little Country Baptist church every sunday morning, But we need to keep our eye on the ball, when you start thinking the only place to worship and praise hte Lord is in a Church Building on Sunday, you can miss out on a whole lot of great opportunities to worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

God Bless,

Dave

Church doesn't tell how how to obey God, the Bible does!

Yup. :) And going to church, is a good place to learn the Bible.

I don't think anyone in here has argued with this, dwink. :) From whence cometh such vociferous protest?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
