Revelation 4:5

From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits of God.

Revelation 1:12-18

I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13and among the lampstands was someone "like a son of man,"dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

Revelation 1:4-5

John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia: Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

-------------------

What are the seven spirits of God???

I was thinking, could it be..

Knowledge, Truth, Understanding, Wisdom, Discipline, Power, Love.. Is that what they are? I named all these based on several scriptures.. but non of them say explicitly that they are the spirit of God. Just that they are spirits and they dwell with Him from the beginning of foundation (at least the first few).

I really have no idea, I just threw this out there. I am most likely wrong here.. Any ideas?

Good question I looked for something in the bible that matches the number seven that are speaking about the spirits of God and couldn't find any. We know that these spirits are not emotions or characteristics because the seven spirits stand before the throne of God.

The seven Spirits of God is a representation of the one Spirit - the Holy Spirit - in the aspect of His complete transformation work (The number 7 signifying consummation or completeness).

Yes this is what I was thinking to. Since we know the Holy Spirit is one.. but I was wondering what are the 7 ? "The Attributes" if we can say that? I guess they aren't mentioned anywhere in the Bible.

I don't think that each Spirit need have a particular attribute or value. Consider Zech. 4:2. The lampstand which Zechariah saw was a single lampstand, yet with seven lamps. The lampstand contained seven pipes for each lamp of the lampstand respectively. The expression, the shining, of the lampstand was singular, and yet there were seven individual lamps. Each lamp respectively shone, and yet there was one expression. This one expression could be said to be "intensified" by the shining of the lamps together. So one way of interpreting this could be that the seven Spirits are the "intensification" of the one Spirit for the consummation of God's eternal economy. At the time that the book of Revelation was written it was a particularly "dark" age - and even today the ages are growing darker and darker. Therefore, like the lampstand in Zechariah, there is the need of the "sevenfold intensified" shining of the Spirit of God. This Spirit is actually in our Spirit to illuminate the darkness of the age and to shine forth from us as the vessels, the lamps, of God; both in the individual sense (Matt. 5:16; Isa. 60:1) and in the corporate sense as is shown in the New Jerusalem, which is the corporate Body of Christ shining forth the glory of God (Rev. 21:11)

I don't know. But someone has suggested the answer can be found in this verse:

"And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;" (Isa 11:2)

1 The spirit of the LORD (The spirit of Yahweh).

2 The spirit of wisdom.

3 The spirit of understanding.

4 The spirit of counsel.

5 The spirit of might.

6 The spirit of knowledge.

7 The spirit of the fear of the LORD.

I don't know how accurate such an interpretation is - but I do believe that nothing in the Bible is written the way it is "by accident". Why did the Holy Spirit inspire Isaiah to give seven descriptions of the Holy Spirit?

So where in this verse does it say that the seven stars are the same as the seven spirits that stand before the throne of God? The seven stars in the verse you quoted are the seven pastors or preachers of the seven churches and the bible speaks of their spiritual condition which are not good and christ expresses his discontent about it.

So wheres the scriptural proof?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
