Greetings Christian 713,

Which scripture or verse would you say unites jews and christians to understand each other better from the old testament?

Perhaps Shiloh or Yod might help you, but I can see no conciliation between Jew and Gentile other than the NT command that "as much as possible we should be at peace with all men". Here are the reasons why:

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Romans 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.

So until the day comes when God changes the heart of the Jew, there IS NO conciliation, however, God is adding Jews to the Kingdom all the time through the teaching and preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, yet even at the moment there is but a "remnant" of them that are REAL Jews, that is that know their Messiah.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

De 32:43

"Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, And render vengeance to His adversaries; He will provide atonement for His land and His people."

Psalms 117:1-2

1 Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples! 2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us, And the truth of the Lord endures forever. Praise the Lord!

Isa 42:1

"Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.

Isa 42:6

"I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles,

Isa 49:6

Indeed He says, 'It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.' "

Mal 1:11

For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name shall be great among the Gentiles; In every place incense shall be offered to My name, And a pure offering; For My name shall be great among the nations," Says the Lord of hosts.

Welcome to the Boards!

I'm not sure if the above posts answered your question or not. I'm a little confused about what you mean by what you are asking.

Would you explain a bit, please? (Unless the above posts did answer your question, at which point there would be no need for further clarification!)

The Old Testament points to God's Messiah, His plan for salvation. The New Testament is the fulfillment of that promise. That is what unites us.

Please note the verses in bold print.

Psalm 22:1 To the Chief Musician, on the deer of the dawn. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have You forsaken me, and are far from my deliverance, and from the words of my groaning?

2 O my God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not answer; and in the night, and am not silent.

3 But You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.

4 Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted, and You delivered them.

5 They cried to You, and were delivered; they trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised by the people.

7 All who see Me mock me; they shoot out the lip; they shake the head, saying,

8 He trusted on Jehovah; let Him deliver Him; let Him rescue Him, since He delights in Him!

9 For You are He who took Me out of the womb, causing Me to trust while on My mother's breasts.

10 I was cast on You from the womb; You are My God from My mother's belly.

11 Be not far from Me; for trouble is near, for there is none to help.

12 Many bulls have circled around Me; strong bulls Of Bashan have surrounded Me.

13 They opened wide their mouths on Me, like a ripping and a roaring lion.

14 I am poured out like water, and all My bones are spread apart; My heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of My bowels.

15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and My tongue clings to My jaws;

16 and You have brought Me into the dust of death. For dogs have circled around Me; the band of spoilers have hemmed Me in, piercers of My hands and My feet.

17 I can count all My bones; they look and stare at Me.

18 They divide My garments among them and cast lots for My clothing.

19 But You, O Jehovah, be not far from Me; O My strength, hurry to help Me!

20 Deliver My soul from the sword, My only one from the dog's hand.

21 Save Me from the lion's mouth; from the wild oxen's horns. You have answered Me.

22 I will declare Your name to My brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise You.

23 You who fear Jehovah, praise Him; all of you, the seed of Jacob, glorify Him; and fear Him all the seed of Israel.

24 For He has not despised nor hated the affliction of the afflicted; and He has not hidden His face from him, but when he cried to Him, He heard.

25 My praise shall be of You in the great congregation; I will pay My vows before the ones who fear Him.

26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek Jehovah shall praise Him; your heart shall live forever.

27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn to Jehovah; and all the families of the nations shall worship before You.

28 For the kingdom is Jehovah's; and He is the ruler among the nations.

29 All the fat ones on the earth shall eat and worship; all those who go down to the dust shall bow before Him; and none can keep alive his own soul.

30 A seed shall serve Him; it shall be spoken of Jehovah to the coming generation.

31 They shall come, and shall declare His righteousness to a people that shall yet be born, that He has done this.

Gen 18:18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

Gen 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Zec 8:23 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.

Here is another couple :t2:

Isaiah 61

9Their descendants shall be known among the Gentiles,

And their offspring among the people.

All who see them shall acknowledge them,

That they are the posterity whom the LORD has blessed."

Amos 9

10All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword,

Who say, "The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.'

11 "On that day I will raise up

The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down,

And repair its damages;

I will raise up its ruins,

And rebuild it as in the days of old;

12That they may possess the remnant of Edom,

And all the Gentiles who are called by My name,"

Says the LORD who does this thing.

Thank you for the welcomes. To clarify my question, I was wondering if any of you could possibly point out any scriptures, verses, etc. in the Old Testament that could possibly bring Jews and Christians closer so they could understand each other better.

It has already been touched on, but I was thinking of the Abrahamic Covenant. As you'll recall God promised Abraham that he would be the father of a nation, Israel, and that all nations would be blessed through that nation. I think this is the best place to find reconciliation for Jews and Gentiles.

In His Grip.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
