I thought this was pretty good - especially the part about God telling Abraham to stop the sacrifice and about how the church has seemed to have placed the institution of marriage above the individuals in it.

I understand that all too well.

I also thought the understanding of God hates 'putting away' rather than 'God hates divorce' as a better translation.

There are some couples who are enjoying their marriage. There are also many couples who find their marriage like an anchor around their neck pulling them under water for the third time. A proper marriage is very wonderful and very beautiful; however, it is possible to stay married and be doing the

Christians don't need more excuses to divorce we are already divorcing at rates at least as high and sometimes HIGHER than non-believers.

But is divorce some kind of horrible sin according to God, or is there just a stigma to those who are divorced based on religiousity?

the church has seemed to have placed the institution of marriage above the individuals in it.

Do you agree with this? If yes, when has God placed the institution of marriage above the individuals?

What about this?

In Jeremiah the eighth chapter, Jeremiah mourns over the inhabitants of Jerusalem. The Lord gave them a warning through the prophet in verses 4-22. In verse 5, it says that they were

Marriage based on true love:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8a

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.

Condition of man in the last days:

Matthew 24:12b

the love of many will grow cold

1 Timothy 4:1-2

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron,

2 Timothy 3:1-5

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

This is the reason why divorce is so prevalent in today's society, we have lost our love. To say that God considers the person more then the institution is correct, but that being correct does not mean He goes against His word. Jesus tells us that the only reason He allows divorce is because of sexual impurity outside of marriage. Paul includes if an unbeliever leaves because of your faith. Nowhere does it say that we should divorce because we are unhappy in our marriage.

This scares me to death that it is being seen as love ...

If we miss the Word of God or the voice of God and continue in a marriage longer than we’re supposed to, we too, can become a sacrifice that was not intended.
Is there a time limit on our word to another? Where in scripture do you find that marriage was not meant to be forever? These words do not point to God, as the author indicates, but to the world and their lack of obedience and lack of faith. Are we not told to not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God? To say that God will tell us that our time for marriage is over is saying that God is going against his own word when He says "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." and "So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate."

I disagree with what this person is teaching and see it as false teaching, opening a door for those who are walking after their own flesh. Separation is one thing ... divorce is another. Protection and healing is one thing ... divorce is another.

What if the doctrine is 'to death due us part'? Which is not in the Bible?

I don't have time, but will look this up later. I remember reading about Jesus meeting a woman divorced 4 times. He didn't seem upset with the divorces but the fact that she was not married to the man she was living with.

The church has said pastors, deacons etc cant' be divorced but where is that in the Bible? Is it in there?

1Ti 3:1 This [is] a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

1Ti 3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

1Ti 3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

1Ti 3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

You are trying to look far and wide for loopholes in scripture to justify divorce. If you search the scriptures, you will see that there are none but what Christ and Paul gave. It was said that out of the hardness of the heart that Moses granted them the decree of divorce, but Christ nullified this decree.

Do not take what someone say as scripture because you like what they are saying. Take what they say and place it beside scripture to see if it lines up with the word of God. If it does, then accept it with happiness. If it does not, either reject it as false teaching or take the persons word over His word.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
