I don't worry about what or when things will happen, I just stay focused on Jesus and everything else will happen when God feels it is time.

I sorta get a chuckle from these groups of people in the past that say the second coming of Christ will be such and such a time. When that day comes the whole group climbs up a hill to wait for the lord and at the end of the day they come down the hill disappointed. The latest I've heard the second coming is 2012, they seem to forget Jesus said "I will be coming like a thief in the night". I'm not worried when Jesus is coming, I just want to stay prepared for it.

.... touching on Revelations....

Revelation

The Big Book Of The LION Of Judah

Come And See The KING OF KINGS And THE LORD OF LORDS Even So, Come, Lord Jesus

The End

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18-19

The Beginning

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. Revelation 1:3

And The Captain Of

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Revelation 1:1-2

My Heart

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. Revelation 22:20

Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:

The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27

Love, Your Brother Joe

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. Psalms 42:1

One thing that I find useful in knowing the timing of End Times, is to encourage those who are on the cusp of making a decision for Christ or are back-slidden, that time is running out and that they need to make up their minds or be left behind.

There is a balance between focusing too much on eschatological pursuit and being completely ignorant of 15% of the Bible.

Both of those extremes are wrong.

God wanted us to know these things or He wouldn't have put them in the Word. The real problem is that it takes a LOT of study to get the big picture. Nothing in the bible contradicts itself and "in the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses let everything be confirmed" means that we should be able to harmonize the prophetic scriptures with the whole counsel of holy writ.

The biggest problem I see are people who read the hebrew Prophets as if they were Greek oracles. They'll take a verse here and twist it with a half-verse there and completely apart from the original context, then make a new doctrine out of it.

We should study the Prophets and we should understand every Word in the bible. It's not necessary for salvation but it is important if the Lord wants us to know it.

Proverbs 30

5 "Every word of God is flawless;

he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

6 Do not add to his words,

or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

And we balance it against these 3 verses:

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.

"the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."

Do you believe it is possible to fully understand prophecy prior to it coming to pass?

No I don't and I don't think that the prophecies in the OT, even those about the coming of Jesus, were ever fully understood.

I understand what you're saying but don't necessarily agree

we can fully understand prophecy in advance, though we can't necessarily say exactly how it will happen. Yet by understanding what the Word has said, we can recognize when it is happening and be somewhat prepared (and even rejoice in seeing it's fulfillment though the world may be fearful)

Daniel understood that Jeremiah had prophecied Israel would be in captivity for 70 years. He didn't know exactly how that would be done, but he knew it would happen and began earnestly seeking it when he realized the time had come.

Isaiah specifically mentions the name of Cyrus in chapter 44 and what he would do...200 years before Cyrus was born. I doubt anyone would have suspected Cyrus would be a Persian king even 10 years before it happened....but it did happen...and precisely as Isaiah said it would (see Nehemiah and Ezra).

Alexander the Great was kind to Israel because the Priests showed him where he was mentioned in Daniel 11. There are many other examples.....

A lot of the symbolism makes no sense whatsoever unless one understands the way the original writer would have understood it; so context is everything. Even then, many of the original writers had no idea what they had just uttered so it isn't a perfect science.

Almost nothing in the Book of Revelation is new. Much of the symbolism can be found in the Tenach (OT for christians) and without harmonizing them, one will not find the correct context.

There are some basic terms that must be understood in the hebraic context or you'll end up with weird 7th Day Adventist stuff (like the 2 witnesses being the Old and New Testament and the city called "Gomorrah" being Paris during the French Revolution)

But the Lord has hidden the truth in plain sight for those who seek His Word.

My rule is that scenarios change with the date on a newspaper. I like examining scenarios but don't put a lot of faith in them. For example, almost EVERY war in history has followed the 4 Horsemen pattern of a king going out to conquor, then a spirit of war among nations, then famine and disease, then death following at the end of it.

Yet there will be a day when it is culminated at Har Meggido (Armeggedon)

The Word of God is true...but scenarios can change.

If Prophecy were not important it would not be in scripture.

But I know what the OP is talking about. I have several extended family members that just fret and fret about these things when there is NOTHING that they can do about them beyond growing in their own faith which is a good thing, not something to worry about.

It brings up a question though. Beyond growing in our own devotion and faith and spreading the Gospel is there something we are supposed to DO about responding to the end times or the anti-Christ or the Return of Christ?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
