After reading another forum I want to say a sin is a sin and if we don't repent of the sin and accept Jesus as our savior, we are going to hell. Now some sins seem to stand out more than others because of political correctness of the time and people feel they must convince others that their sin is all well an good. As an example we as Christians know abortion is wrong, yet there are people that think they need to persuade us to thinking it is no longer a sin.

As I stated before we must repent of our sins, now I got a question that I hope others can answer. I'm older than dirt and if I were to put all my sins down on paper I would have a book thicker then the Bible. I can't possibly remember all my sins, so is it possible to ask God to collectively forgive me of my sins that I can no longer remember?

This might be a stupid question but I should get some good responses. :emot-handshake:

the only stupid question is the one unasked! :P

all of your sins were forgiven when you accepted Christ. i know others will disagree with me on this, but if you look at what paul wrote about forgiveness, you will note that it is always past tense. we are seated with Christ in the heavenlies. how can that be so if we have unforgiven sin in our lives? how many times in the new testiment does it say we should ask for forgiveness? check it out.

don't worry about your thick book, zim. i don't know if i'm older than you, but i bet my book is thicker! Jesus covered it all, though. on that you can rest!

Amen to that!

As someone who is older than dirt as well, I can understand your dilemma. Here is what I feel is the answer. We as believers want to repent for certain sins we have committed in our lives, but in truth, we have never gotten tothe root of the issue, which is possessing and living in our fallen natures. We continue to not belioeve we are new creatures in Christ and stand fast in that faith, having put off the old man. Instead, we so oftern remain in our old nature, repenting of the sins it commits, but never come to the understanding that it is repentance for our old nature itself that we must come to. We must see that apart from putting on the new man, we cannot stop sinning, but are a veratble fountain of sin that never will cease. Our repentance is complete when we see that in us dwells no good thing, that we cannot obey without Him in us, living in us, guiding us by the spirit that we allow to reign in our wills and or lives.

Until we see we are sin, not just committers of speicific acts of sin, we cannot enter into the new creature and truly walk away from the old nature by faith.

I hope this helps somewhat.

As newly created beings with The Spirit of God within- we will be guided into all truth

John 16:13a

13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;

NKJV

This all truth is the removal of lies which as I grow He brings to me past things that I quickly confess as His light shines upon them as dead and without life! I am thankful for this growth for I am daily changing into something useful to Him! As the dead things grow increasenly less my perception in Him and His Word increases. This value does not have earthly defintion but that all one has here one would quickly exchanged for what I am speaking of-

Matt 13:45-46

45 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, 46 who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

NKJV

Once you accept Christ, all your sins are forgiven. Past, present and future. For me, when there are specific sins that I had committed as a pup, then the Holy Spirit brings it to my mind and I confess that sin to God. I've been saved a long time, but these recollections still happen. But we don't have to ask for forgiveness for our sins more than once because once confessed (individually or corporately) they are forgiven and forgotten. Guilt from confessed sin is from Satan and not God.

An interesting thread concerning sin and repentance. Generally I hear of these kinds of discussions, but seldom find the terms defined - rather they are simply 'understood' in some sort of foggy fashion.

Just for the fun of it, who would like to give us a biblical based definition of sin and list of what God has identified as 'sin', plus the role or function of repentance? It would seem that such a discussion would be right in line with the subject and tone of the thread to date.

I am currently in the middle of a study on the subject and would be very interested in what the members of this forum think about it.

Sin, sinning, sinner has been mentioned in the Bible thousands of times, yet I couldn't find the Biblical definition for sin. Maybe someone reading this post that is more versed in the Bible will be able to find the definition. In my opinion to sin is to do wrong against the word of God.

Repentance or to repent is to feel a sincere regret for sinning.

Again this is just my opinion.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
