Hello There,

I am very much ashamed to say that when I was only 14 years old, I got hooked on pornography... I don't know what to do.. This is hindering my walk with God and also schooling and family relationships. This has also just about completely numbed my mind. I have tried so hard to rid myself of this but have failed over and over. I prayed to God for help, but I feel like He has not responded or hasn't heard me. Please, I need some help... I was thinking maybe there was a free internet/email filter somewhere, but I haven't found any yet. Again, Please, I need some help.

You have taken the first step by recognizing your problem. There are no easy solutions, and it may be a struggle.

- confession, repentance, renewed obedience, prayer, Word, fellowship, etc. are basic principles, but not always an instant cure.

- practical matters include only using the computer when parents are around, filters (not perfect), etc.

- accountability may be the only way to freedom. A counselor or pastor can help get at root issues (abuse, insecurity, hurt, etc.). A 12-step program has principles for alcoholism, sexual addiction, gambling addiction, etc. We are an addictive society.

- God in Jesus is the ultimate hope for freedom and deliverance. Practical matters are also helpful.

- you are not alone in your struggle...many people, including Christians and teens, struggle...it would have been easier to not get addicted, but there is hope. It is worth overcoming with God's help and discipline.

You are definitely in our prayers. I encourage you to try and stay around other people. This is a secret type of thing, and when you are with a bunch of people you tend to not focus on that, plus the accountability. GBU

Bless you! It takes a lot of courage to face our weaknesses and I commend you for your desire to change. :t2:

Many of us have had the same problem. I do NOT know of any free filters but one of the best is BSAFE promoted by by The American Family Association.

BSAFE

It is only $50 a year...and by using it for the one year, the addiction can be broken? You would be surprised at the number of clergy who struggle with the very thing that you are struggling with. You are NOT alone.

Get the filter...sure $50 sounds like a lot but haven't we all wasted at least that much over a year? Then continue to pray to God for help and focus your attention onto other things...such as participating in the discussions here at Worthy, studying your Bible, getting invloved at Church and so on.

Be Blessed,

Wayne

Try the 12 step process that AA uses to fight alcohol addiction. Porn addiction has many of the same basic mental needs as does alcohol. I know many people that has used this approach to help.

I suggest you fast, and pray, and if you can not choose to do what is right, then I suggest you try to find some other thing, to comfort you which is not so bad as that. Maybe you could drink alittle alcohol every once in a while to help you, but if that would lead you to do other things which are hurtful to you, then please do not do that. Maybe you could find a movie which is not so bad, and watch that instead, I mean there may be violence, and maybe some sexual things, but not people getting naked, and preferably not people having sexual relations, submit to God, and humble yourself, and you will not even need these things, because if you believe in Christ then you can do all good things through Him, you are not alone, so have faith, and go to the next level of faith by talking to God through Jesus Christ, come boldly unto the throne of grace, for grace, and mercy in time of need. Through His blood we are saved, and through His Spirit we are saved.

Thank you all for your quick response... In answer to the first question, yes, I accepted Christ at the age of 9, strayed away and came back to Christ at age 14 (after the porno thing had already started). I have not turned away since that time. This struggle has been going on for a little over 4 years. I will say this, that I have not said a word about my struggles to any person. Due to past relationships I don't really have any true friends. Yes, I know Christ is my friend, and I think He is the only reason I haven't given up yet.

"Saved by Grace" - Now, about the filters... The reason why I said 'free' is because I currently do not have a job. Basically, I have no money. The money I had was used in helping out a family member who was in need. If I had money, I probably would spend the $50 for it.

"other one" - As for the 12 step processes, it may work for some, however, I do not think that will work on me (can't really explain why).

"Shelby" - I have noticed that staying around others does help. I just hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it.

"godrulz" - Talking to a pastor, I think, would not be a good idea for me. Yes, I do see how talking would help, but there is just no way I can. Like I said earlier, I've had bad experiences with friendships & realationships.

Thank you for your prayers and for the help... It is taking a lot for me to share this...

I know you have prayed about this and that is what you need to do. But God is not going to do it for you.

You have to act and be disciplined. You have to be aware and strong. God will help you, but only if you can help yourself.

Keep praying. God will provide ways for you to defeat this, but there has to be action on your part.

God luck and God bless you.

If no action has been going on, then I wouldn't be on this forum asking for help... Why do you think I am asking if there are any free internet filters? I have tried, that is the whole point. Yeah, I can see where you are coming from if I haven't tried to discipline myself. But the thing is, I have tried, and utterly failed.

Thank you for sharing...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
