PHARASAICAL Spirit

It is a spirit of SELF-righteousness, boasting about ones self. Matthew 23 is derected at them:

"Blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and dish, that they outside of them may be clean also. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like white washed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead's men's bones and all uncleanleness. Even so, you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness." Matt. 23:26, 27,28

It is my understanding that the pharasee's had taken the torrah and made a very detailed oral set of teachings that took the torrah and applied it to daily life. It had grown to the point of pretty much overshadowing the written torrah itself and they put much more inphases on the oral teaching than the written. As Jesus told us they had pretty much made the teachings of Moses null by their perverted instructions.

It is my understanding that this oral tradition was put in written form after the temple was destroyed and is basically the talmud. I have read several small books dealing with this in an effort to understand why Jesus was so against the Pharasees.

I'll not comment on the talmud here, if you are interested you can do that yourself, for it is extreamly offensive to me and talking about it would be terribly offensive to many here from both sides of the question.
