My son has a question about people

No ill intent on our parts here asking this. I for one am glad my sons curiousity is up about this and am thankful that God has placed these questions in his mind.

After all, that's how we all learn about God, isn't it?

Isn't there a passage that says something to the effect of "The Word of God was entrusted once and for all to the Jews"? I may be completely incorrect here, but I'm pretty sure that when I was doing some research with regard to why canon is what it is, I read that. I am tired, and mah lil girl wants mama, sos I cant relly look it up atm.

Jeremy thinks that what you said is true koppen and is wondering why anyone would think that God would give messages and visions and things of that nature all through Biblical times and then just suddenly stop and choose to no longer give messages to HIS people.

Well, because that's how God works. Read 1 Samual 3:1 - it seems to indicate that this has been the case throughout history...

1 Samuel 3:1

1 The boy Samuel ministered before the LORD under Eli. In those days the word of the LORD was rare; there were not many visions.

God bless,

Bob

Duh! Romans 3 is what I was thinking of.

Romans 3

1 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? 2 Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews are entrusted with the oracles of God.

I'm not certain that that passage neccessarily answers your question, however.

Deuteronomy 18:20-22. This scripture teaches that a prophet must be tested by checking his prophecies. Deut. 13:1-4 "If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, "and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods'-- which you have not known--' and let us serve them,'3 "you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.4 "You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him."

I will post more soon... :t2:

The Bible was originally written by ordinary men that were conveying the message of God and that I think that ordinary men today could do the same if they receive a word from God.

I don't understand why we should believe only the testimony of people that lived in Bliblical times, and not the testimony of those since.

I realize there are False Prophets, but I also believe that some of them are not.

These are not my words. These are my sons words and I'm glad he's hungry to know God's word.

I also have to agree ...we are not to take away or add to the word of GOd...So no it shouldn't be added to the Bible.

False Profits....

One of the central teachings of the apostle John that he insisted that those of his time should realize (and to leave as an example of truth for all future Christians and especially for us who are living at this End-Time period) was his statement about false prophets. Notice what John stated in I John 4:1.

"Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits [put the spirits and their teachings to the test] whether they are of God: because many [not the few, but many] false prophets are gone out into the world."

the spirit of God is always whole-some, but when teachings come from angelic spirits, John told us to try (or to put to the test) the various spirits because many false prophets have gone out into the world inspired by evil spirits. It must be understood that evil spirits (including Satan himself) do not often look bad in their external appearance or in their social and religious teachings. Indeed, we are told in Scripture that there were numerous people in the first century teaching doctrines about Christ and even looking so good on the outside that they could trick people into thinking that they were the very apostles of Christ Jesus and yet they were instruments of Satan the Devil. The apostle Paul warned people in no uncertain manner to be aware of their tactics because these false apostles and false prophets normally look good and righteous on the surface. As a matter of fact, Satan himself appears as an angel of light. Notice what Paul warned speaking about men who wanted the Corinthian Christians to return to believing and observing a type of Judaism in their Christian walk. Paul said:

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works" (II Corinthians 11:13-15).

This section of Scripture tells us very much. It shows that these false teachers are normally those who look righteous and good on the surface. They even appear as "ministers of righteousness" by teaching messages that are socially and religiously acceptable to most ordinary people in the society. Remember that Christ himself also taught that at the end of the age, many people would arise who would be saying that Christ was indeed the Messiah of the world, but even though they did this, they would also be great deceivers. Note what Christ told his apostles in Matthew 24:4,5.

"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying [or admitting], I am the Christ; and shall deceive many."

Christ Jesus went further than that in warning us about these people who state they are followers of Christ and claim to be advocating the basic principles of Christianity. Note what Christ said in Matthew 7:21-23.

"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many [again note that Christ said "MANY"] will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

How to Identify False Prophets

The first protection real Christians have is our faith in what the biblical revelation clearly teaches. For example, when the true Christ Jesus appears from heaven with His angels, you and I (as Christians) will be transported into the clouds to meet Christ in the air (I Thessalonians 4:13-18). But when Satan and his angels are cast out of heaven (Revelation 12) whom the world will believe is Christ and His angels coming back to earth, you and I will NOT be caught up in the air to meet that false group of spirit beings descending from heaven. You and I can know for certain that such a "Second Advent" is a false Advent. No matter what miracles, signs and wonders are performed by those evil hosts coming from heaven, those spiritual beings will NOT be Christ and His angels. All people at that time who support the claim of these false spirits will themselves be "false prophets." What we need to do is to ask the Father and the real Christ (our Elder Brother) to protect us during those times (and they will) because the whole world is going to be deceived into believing that Satan and his angels are actually Christ and His angels returning to earth at the Second Advent.

There is another infallible proof that can protect you from the wiles and deceptions of false prophets (though they may claim to be the greatest Christians the world has ever seen). That is the fact that the apostle Paul stated dogmatically that "there is ONE God, and ONE mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (I Timothy 2:5). This means in the clearest of terms that there is NOT a human on this earth, NOR is there an angel in heaven, who is an intermediary between us (you and me) and the Father, except Christ Jesus. It is Christ who is our only Mediator. This provides for us a great "test" for those who claim to be spokesmen or spokeswomen for Christ. The truth is, there is not a man, woman, child, angel, archangel or cherub who has any mediatorial role to play in our individual relationships with the Father. Christ is that ONLY Mediator!

So, what does this mean in detecting "false prophets"? This means that you and I need no Pope. We need no men as Priests. We need no Ministers. We need no Evangelists. We need no Faith Healers that you or I must seek out for healings or other blessings. We need no Prophets nor do we need any person whatever! But almost all the False Prophets are in the business of saying something like: "You have to come to me for blessings." Or, some may say: "You have to go to that man or to that woman for anything from God." They often say: "Christ has given men authority on earth to be your ministers and you have to submit to them and to the authority of the leaders of the Church of God." This is pure and unadulterated nonsense. Worse than that, it is the propagation and dissemination of the Antichrist system where you have men standing in as the representatives of God. So many claim that the men who lead in any Church of God are the human authorities to stand in for God in exercising God

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
