there are some that are in business for themselves, selfemployed.....

some tithe from the gross income ( prior to deducting taxes, material, wages as well as other bills ) and there are some that take the net income to figure on ( after material, wages and taxes have been removed ).....

which is right? which is wrong? neither, each is giving according to what their walk with the Lord is asking them to do.... both parties are doing well, neither is doing worse then the other.....

some people figure up the tithe to the penny.... some round up.....( for instance, two parties receive $426.75, one would give $42.67, the other would give $50.00 )

again, which is right, which is wrong?.....

why not spend some time on the knees, and let God tell you how much to give.

a year and half ago, during service, I had a $110.00 in my wallet, business was slow, and weather and economy was such that it did not look good for the next couple weeks, I had my budget set, and knew I needed the $100 to make it.... in fact, the money i had in my wallet had already been tithed on.... the offering basket came by, and I knew i could give the $10. So, i pulled out the 10, and dropped it in the basket... the next day i was needing to get something, and when i looked in my wallet, the only thing that was there was the $10, the $100 was gone.

my heart dropped, what was I going to do? i had the house payment to do and I was going to be almost $100 short...... I prayed and worried..... ( this was on monday )

Tuesday, when I checked the mail, thinking I will be needing to get hold of the mortgage company, I seen a letter from a couple that I had never met in person, I had only talked with them while on line, thru a mutual friend......

I thought it was nice of them to send a Christmas card, and when I opened it, there was a check for .....yep, you guessed it..... $100.00 ).....

I could have made it with out the money, the house payment would have been just a few days late is all......

I contacted this couple, and asked them why they sent it, and they said they had a pull to send it... there was no other reason, just felt it was something they were suppose to do.....

here is what I see happened.... there was $100 needed some where here for some peticular reason, what I do not know, and the day I dropped it in the offering basket, is the day that it was needed, I did not need it that day, so my hand was directed to take the money that was needed.... but that would put me short, and this other couple had an abundance at that time, and they were directed to send it... in all actuallity, I did not provide the $100, the other couple did.... I did not have to give, not even with the "tithe" bit, for my "Tithe" had already beed done, but with the little extra, some one was blessed besides me....

I challenge each of us to allow God to direct the amount that is given..... how the amount is figured up, and such as this....

if we spend more time trying to figure it up to the penny, after deduction, or after certain deductions, and not other deductions, then maybe, just maybe we have lost focus on what the reason is that we do give......

as has been stated before, God would rather have our Love and obediance inplace of the sacrafice..... Jesus done the perfect sacrafice..... nothing we can do will ever equal it... or even come close to it...

every thing belongs to God anyways, we are just His stewards over it..... so

if we do not give according to our means...... God will adjust our means according to our giving........

If I recall...the Word tells us to tithe on the "increase".....

The Bible also tells us when someone says "it is corban" refusing then to help is

own....he is a hypocrite....

The widows mite amounted to all she had....think about it....

believe me we do not serve God to be subservient to the dictates of man....

Christians should never deduct tithes from taxes.

It is letting the left hand know that the right hand does and seeking to take away from God.

Actually we owe all to God, but to consider the tithe

Way too much emphasis is being put on the dollar amount in here. I said this in another thread, but I think it's relevant here:

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

You may not find the mandate to tithe in the New Testament, but what you will find is believers living under the covenant of Grace. Something my brother has said is, "If they could give under the law, I can certainly give under grace". The ppl in the old covenant were required to give and make sacrifices. We, on the other hand, have the blessing of giving freely ..and should do so REGULARLY out of a heart of gratitude. We have so much more reason to give than they did in the Old Covenant...we have been set free!. Romans 12: 1 tells us we should be living sacrifices. Every part of our lives (including finances) should be lived as an offering back to God.

Also, according to Scripture (Galatians 3 to be exact) those of us in Christ are heirs to the promises God made to Abraham. What were those promises? That we would be blessed ... so that we could BE a blessing. There's no getting around the fact that we are called to give and to give abundantly.

...Truth be told, we should be willing to lay everything down...not just 10% but 100% ... none of it really belongs to us anyway.

Why spend too much time calculating things and worrying about the amount? Just give as the Holy Spirit leads, without holding back, and you'll have no reason to be concerned about whether you'll have enough left over or not. Whether your church sees it or records it ultimately makes no difference. God sees. He knows your heart and He'll take care of the details.

Just my $.02

I may be confused but why would you want to deduct tithes from taxes owed?

Do other Christians do this? :)

It seems to me, you would be like an Indian giver. The Indian gives and then wants it back, thru any source he can find. (Please don't take offense to this, I am just replying.) :sweating:

Well, logically you can take the deduction, then tith on the refund. If you don't get a refund, then don't bother claiming it. I don't think that it's sinful to claim the deduction, so long as you don't "flub" it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
