Not everyone credits obama with bin ladens death

Yet Sunday night, Obama mentioned many times how it was all about him, his plan, his foresight, his direction . . . and then finally a little thanks to the troops involved. It churned out stomachs.

Evidently you and I did not hear the same speech.

A small team of Americans carried out the operation with extraordinary courage and capability. No Americans were harmed. They took care to avoid civilian casualties. After a firefight, they killed Osama bin Laden and took custody of his body."

It's called giving a timeline. You claimed that Obama took the credit..... " and then finally a little thanks to the troops involved" which is totally untrue.

Obama gave the timeline of what he was told and how he made his decision then went on to give the intelligence agencies and the military the credit they deserved. I know you don't like it, but that is the way it was.

Sure, he gave a timeline, but he made sure to emphasize his role in the whole affair.

But we'll see down the road who is right in perspectives. Last election, Obama's images had halos around around his head and children sang the praises of him by name. If such things escalate, it will be clear that it isn't my side that is looking through colored glasses.

All right, here's an example of what irks me -

"President Bush had 2,686 days to catch Osama bin Laden. President Obama got that job done in 831 days," said Lawrence O'Donnell," at the start of his 8 p.m. show. "Somehow ... bin Laden got the feeling that he could settle down comfortable in a walled fortress is a Pakistan suburb. But someone -- someone -- was still thinking about bin Laden in a lethal way. ... President Obama would make his biggest national security priority getting Osama bin Laden, and so he did."

No, the intelligence community got the job done after 3,517 days. The Commander in Chief may give the orders, but he's not like the head of police who is actually out there doing the work.

Obama would not be able to to be credited with the "bag" if not for the previous work set forth by Bush and accomplished by the intelligence and military.

exactly. and i just have the urge to reiterate what i mentioned previously in another thread. or maybe i said it on facebook. i don't recall. anyway, the point is, obama really had nothing to do with it at all. the order to capture or kill bin laden was given ten years ago. our troops have worked tirelessly since then to carry out the mission, and many have sacrificed their lives to that end. that obama "gave" an order which had already been given by the previous commander doesn't make it his coup anymore than all the lives lost because of bin laden (both american and iraqi) make it his sacrifice. it was not obama's accomplishment. it was our military's accomplishment.
