You know how you see Jewish people eating Pita Bread or Flat bread, but dipping it in some red sause? It looks like BBQ sause. Anyway, does anyone know what that sause is?

I have the Pita bread down but not the sause. I like to dab into the Jewish traditions alittle, and cook there type of food especially when passover comes around.

Where have you been that you have seen them dipping their bread into a red sauce? Perhaps you should just ask them what it is.

I make my own Humus (kind of like a bean dip), and eat it with pita. I also enjoy Tehina sauce. It is white though. I am not familiar with any kind of red sauce used for dipping bread in.

I will say that the horseradish I use at my Passover seders is red. I don't know if that helps. Like I said, the next time you see them, ask them what it is. They might invite you to sit and nosh (snack) with them! :t2:

I love Jewish foods. Anyway, I don't have many recipes. Also, I don't have any of them with me right now. I'll have to bring some in and type them. Gotta run.

Here ya go Angels! Hope you like it. There are some things I should point out:

You should be able to get tahini (also pronounced tehina) at health food stores or any grocery store that has a kosher section. If you have a kosher grocery store in your area, you can get it there.

I also suggest adding the garlic and spices to suit your taste. Some people use more garlic other less.

HUMUS

2 cans garbanzos, drained

1/2 cup tahini

1/4 cup water

1/3 cup lemon juice

3 cloves of garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

2 tsp. cumin

Roasted and ground

black or red pepper, to taste

You can mash the garbanzos like you are making mashed potatoes, and then just add the other ingredients and then mix it all up. It is really easy to make. You want it to be like a bean dip. Make sure that there are no lumps.

Serve it with warm pita, and it almost makes a meal on its own!!! Mmmm, mmmm!! :P

I don't think it will keep for a long time, so you will want to eat it fast. It is not really all that fattening and is high in protein.

Oh, and you can also add some olive oil into it if that is something you like.

Shiloh,

I'm going to try this as soon as I have time to go the store to get the ingredients,

I never heard of tahini and don't know what it is.

Thanks for taking the time to write it all down, I will let you know how I like the taste!! :)

Angels :)

I found this recipe to make tahini:

Tahini (pronounced tah-HEE-nee) is mostly used in the Middle East. It is basically made from ground sesame seeds. Due to its nutty flavour, it is considered ideal for dishes such as hummus.

Although tahini has a fair amount of essential fatty acids and is high in calcium, it is also up there with regards of calories. Per 100 grams of tahini, you can expect upwards of 600 calories.

It is very easy to make tahini at home. All you will need are some sesame seeds and olive oil. Coat a flat baking tray with olive oil and sprinkle the seeds. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. Sesame seeds burn quickly so keep an eye on them and flip them often during the 10 minutes.

Once lightly browned, remove from oven and place them in a blender to create your tahini paste. You can add tahini to your favourite hummus, use it in a salad, spread over crackers just to name a few ideas.

I have found tahini ready-made. I have never made it myself. I like to dip pita in tahini as well. I think it stands on its own. I used to put tahini with falafels when I would stuff them insie pita halves. Very tasty, I think.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
