And again, it means Hallowed Eve. It began as a CHRISTIAN celebration. So I think you mean that Christians were not misinformed about Halloween until the 80's.

Artsy, maybe if we post that in BIG font, like, say........four thousand times........it will start to sink in?

You know, folks....I've just learned to love people where they're at....because I know what direction my Father can take them.....

Chew on that....

Over the years we've learned a lot about the Lord and learned not too long after we did that, that it was the wrong thing to do.

Kitkat, the only thing you forgot (IMO) is the "for us" at the end of that. It was the wrong thing to do for you. The Holy Spirit will tell everyone else whether or not it is wrong for them.

I do agree with you though about cauldrons and that kind of thing. I love to "do" Halloween, but I don't have anything like witches, "devils", or anything satanic like that. I am convicted about that, about not glorifying anything like that - even "cute" and "harmless" devils. I dressed my son uu as a devil when I wasn't a Christian (19 years ago) and cringe at that.

For anyone who feels led to flame me about taking part in the rest of it - or being a hypocrite - please don't. You've already made yourselves heard loud and clear. :t2:

Yeah, anything that glorifies Satan, witches, warlocks or other EVIL beings like that is definately wrong.

Guess what? I was dressed as the devil that year. Yep, I wore a long-sleeved tight sweater and tight black pants, black high heels, with a long tail at my rear end and red horns on my head and I had a pitch fork.

I'll remember the minor technicalities next time and be sure to include the phrase, ahem........."for us".

I guess sacrificing babies as a ritual on that night doesn't mean much to some people.

Just a small note on Christmas since the subject just keeps popping up. There's not a single commandment in Scripture that instructs us to celebrate Christ's birth. But this doesn't mean it's wrong to do it. Scripture indicates that anything is permitted so long as it does not violate Biblical principals, and so long as it is done in faith, with love, and in a manner that edifies people (see Romans 13:10; 14:4, 5, 23; 1 Corinthians 6:12; 10:23; Colossians 2:20, 22).

Some have objected that Christ wasn't born on December 25. That's probably true. (His birth likely occurred at a different time of year altogether.) Nevertheless, it is perfectly appropriate for Christians to celebrate the Incarnation, the most incredible event of human history. And it's fine to do it on December 25, even though Christ probably wasn't born that day. (After all, Americans commemorate Washington's birthday on the third Monday of February, even though his real birthday was February 22.)

I know there are those who note that Christmas is celebrated on a day which in the ancient Roman Empire was a pagan holiday linked to the mystery religions. But this doesn't make Christmas a pagan holiday. The fact is, the Christians refused to participate in the pagan ritual. Their attitude was that if the pagans were going to celebrate their false religion, Christians should celebrate the one true religion. And what better way to celebrate than to focus attention on the Incarnation, the event in which eternal God became a man?

Personally I think it brings a smile to Christ's face when Christians celebrate His birth. On the other hand, I think it must sadden Him when He sees Christians focusing exclusively on exchanging gifts with one another, focusing little or no attention on Him.

Personally, I think we should go back to celebrating All Saints Day on Nov 1, much like we remember ML King or the war veterans.

Oooooh! Dressing as the devil. *shudder*. I know exactly how you feel, since I dressed my kid like that. YIKES. Thank goodness for a loving and forgiving God, who must shake his head and think - "Um, time to just wipe them all off of the face of the earth, or what??". LOL -who could blame Him??

P.S - it's not 'technical' - it really changes the whole thing!

Do I still get to hang up pumpkins, make a jack-o-lantern, go trick-or-treating and play spooky music???

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
