Replying to Should Christians participate in Hallowe'en

NO! NO!

In CHRIST JESUS

Can we participate in loving children and telling them about Jesus?

I live in very warm climate and sit outside and witness...is that acceptable?

gosh.. the more I read over these posts.. the less important it seems. I was just reading in another post, how Paul had written that the actions weren't forbidden it was the reason behind them. And.. most of you for halloween are right on here.

You just eat candy, hang out with your family, and have fun. It's not about devil worship, etc, for any of you. And.. I feel bad that I've been so stubborn about this, and I feel really stupid. I just wanted to apologize. It is pretty legalistic. I'm usually not so.. uptight about this stuff. I just have never cared for it much..

Don't worry about a thing. No apology needed - not to me at least. It takes a lot of pride swallowing to change your mind the way you did - and pride swallowing like this is something to be very proud of. There! You can be proud of the fact that you swallowed your pride! I'm sure you know what I mean.

You are an example to us all. We all battle heads starting off with a notion that something is in our opinion either right or wrong. The more we argue the point, the more we dig in our heels and continue to convince ourselves that we are right and the other person just cannot be. It takes a LOT to seriously consider the opposing viewpoint and you've done and you've grown from it. Again, you are a great example to us all. I haven't seen too many people change their minds about anything here but it is nothing to be embarrassed about when you change your mind on a stance such as this one. It actually shows how reasonable you are, or can be.

Think what you want then.

I guess you didn't read Koppen's post about the Halloween (Or Holy Evening) open house where there was an altar call and kids were saved! Got a problem with that? These are the kinds of 'activities' that honor the powers of the one true living GOD.

Hey, when you guys quote someone, I notice you have small print which shows the original poster's name and the date of their post. When I quote someone, it just puts in in a box. How do you add the name?

^^^ This is one of the most totally awesome posts I've seen lately! ;)

One of the things I think you said that needs re-emphasized:

the more I read over these posts.. the less important it seems.

Let's not miss this folks! I posted earlier what my friend Nik (ScientificAtheist) had to say about believers. Apparently, artsylady was the only one to read it..lol. But I think it's important to step back sometimes and see things from the world's perspective. Christians argue over the stupidest things. Seriously. Here we are, supposedly those who have been redeemed and covered by grace, yet we offer very little grace to one another when it comes to differing convictions. Remember those ppl we are here to reach? You know the ones; the ppl we call "lost", "unsaved", "unbelievers" and "nonchristians". Remember them? We spend so much time arguing amongst ourselves about "disputable matters", and the world sits back and just watches us tear eachother apart. What kind of testimony is this? Are we supposed to be worried about what other believers think of us and how "holy" we are? Or are we supposed to be obeying the Holy Spirit? Why is it that those who are more conservative in their convictions seem to lack grace for those whose convictions aren't the same?

I've said this over and over, and I'm going to say it again: remember grace? I'm not talking about license to sin, so let's not go there. But I am talking about trusting the Holy Spirit enough to know that if another believer is stepping outside of holiness, He will convict them. We need to show grace to other believers as the Father has shown us grace. This doesn't mean overlooking blatant sin, but it does mean we shouldn't argue over "eating meat". I think grace and freedom will be a far better testimony to the world than the law and bondage. Afterall, they're already bound. They need to see believers living in the freedom Christ came to give us.

Peace,

Tess

READ READ AND RE-READ the part I've made bold. This applies to so much more than trick or treating! Very very important!

also, Nick's girl,

thanks for your post. I appreciate it and sense your sincerity. I'd also like to re-emphasize what you wrote here....

how Paul had written that the actions weren't forbidden it was the reason behind them.

humbly.....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
