In this recent Gallup Poll it was found that 49% of Americans believe the bible is literally true and another 30% think it is the inspired word of God - that's 79% of the population who are good Christians.

When God destroyed the Earth in a flood he saved the righteous people (Noah and his family) and when he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah he saved the righteous people (Lot and his family).

Based on past experience then, I think that God will save the righteous people in America - hundreds of millions of them according to the Gallup Poll.

I know many who believe the Bible who are not Christian...they believe it is literally true...and could care less. America has been like a superpower for roundabout 200 yrs now...that is the average. History tells me so lol. As for us being mentioned in the Bible I can't say for sure yes or no...neither can anyone here since it isn't exactly mentioned by name. This country is in serious trouble. Spiritually, and politically...the "sheeple" tend to go with the flow and believe what they are told.

I don't understand - are you replying to my post? I didn't say anything about people caring or not caring, or super powers, or which countries are mentioned in the bible. Perhaps you've got me mixed up with someone else?

It's not going to be an attack in the physical sense.

It is going to be financial and we have done it to ourselves, worldwide, not just the USA.

The dollar is the present standard, but that won't be forever. And taking into account that of every dollar you spend at present, 38c goes to financing debt, there is a huge problem on the horizon. 2013 is going to be the year that we see either a recession (worldwide), or another huge financial crunch.

It will start with the USA, it has to, given the dollar influence, but Portugal, Italy, Spain, Greece, Ireland and others will topple like cards (if not sooner). The rest of the world will suffer greatly. Even Russia, China and India, and some emerging African economies, who will weather the storm better than most, will suffer.

We did it to ourselves, everywhere, with greed. China is practicing "colonization" of Africa, and they have been very effective. They don't have to invade, they are just buying the place, and greedy politicians and business people are selling..

And we are still trying to find a way out that does not include hard work, a rightsizing of industry versus consumerism, a pruning of government spending, and a reality check on the hedge funds and other fat cats - everywhere, not just the USA.

There will be nowhere to run. We will have to stand and deal with the problem.

And we will suffer until and while we do.

Guys, guys, guys (and gals too). This is not an eschatological thing. Jesus may not come back for another hundred years. The reason for the post was not to debate whether America is in Revelation (it isn't) or whether America is 'mystery Babylon/the Great Whore' (it isn't). It's about whether or not America will repent for the evil it has done as a nation. God is undoubtedly taking this nation to the woodshed. Massive wildfires. Scorching heat. Violent storms. God is sovereign over ALL the nations and when one gets so far out of line that its deeds raise a stench in heaven to His nostrils, then He judges it. Jesus chided Jerusalem (the capital of the nation, its nerve center) and told them that they didn't recognize the time of their visitation and because they didn't, destruction was coming.

Luk 19:41-44 ¶ And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things [which belong] unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

America's visitation is here. God is dealing with us a little at a time. We would do well to recognize it.

I prefer to believe that God WITHHOLDS HIS PROTECTION from nations who have done evil, allowing nature to take it's course....be that nature man-initiated or environmentally-initiated. As to America repenting: Forget it! America must first recognize that they are committing evil against God before they are willing to repent. Seventy-five percent of Americans say they believe in God, yet 75% of that group will fail to witness for Christ come trib time.

Bottom line: We are a nation living carelessly towards God ( see Ezk 39:6 )

I could prove that only 1 in 100 professed christians in this generation will be found worthy of inclusion in the kingdom, based on currently and estimated world population figures, current and estimated christian population numbers, the 10,000 x 10,000 angels in heaven, and dates derived from interjection of godly numbers into the times quote ( times, times and 1/2 a time ) in Daniel & The Revelation. But, for the sake of the peace on this board by not bringing up controversial issues, I'll waive that proof.

Suffice to say, I accept your opinion....you wouldn't believe me anyway....
