In Genesis 22 God says that He will bless Abraham because he obeyed God in not withholding his only son. Would it be accurate to say that the descendants of Abraham(Israel) are blessed because of his obedience, just as we who accept Jesus Christ are blessed because of His obedience on the Cross under the New Covenant? This would imply that our part is to simply believe in His finished work, which would count as our obedience.

Any insight or comments would be much appreciated...

That's what it seems to say here:

Rom. 4

13 For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified ; 15 for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no law, there also is no violation. 16 For this reason it is by faith, in order that it may be in accordance with grace, so that the promise will be guaranteed to all the descendants, not only to those who are of the Law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all, 17 (as it is written, "A FATHER OF MANY NATIONS HAVE I MADE YOU") in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist. 18 In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, "SO SHALL YOUR DESCENDANTS BE." 19 Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb ; 20 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. 22 Therefore IT WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. 23 Now not for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him, 24 but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.

But one thing - be careful with the word "believe" (for "even the demons believe..."). "Believing in" and "believing" convey different concepts.

46 Which of you convinceth me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do ye not believe me?

53 Art thou greater than our father ABRAHAM, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?

54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:

55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.

56 Your father ABRAHAM rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen ABRAHAM?

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before ABRAHAM was, I am.

59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

There is physical Israel and spiritual Israel. Spiritual Israel is the Church which will be Raptured. Physical Israel is the nation of Israel today which is blessed by God and its people will host Elijah and Moses in the Great Tribulation.

Thats true. The story of Abraham and his son was actually a foreshadowing of God sacrificing His son, also.

24 After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree.

So they have been cut off because of unbelief in Jesus the Christ?

Have A Little

Then I heard Him speaking to me from the temple.

And He said to me, "Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place of the soles of My feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever.

Son of man, describe the temple to the house of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their iniquities; and let them measure the pattern.

Write it down in their sight, so that they may keep its whole design and all its ordinances, and perform them.

This is the law of the temple: The whole area surrounding the mountaintop shall be most holy.

Behold, this is the law of the temple. Ezekiel 43:2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12

I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for which I raised My hand in an oath to give to your fathers." Ezekiel 20:40-42

You were doing great till you got here. The Church will NOT be raptured until the last day. The great tribulation is long over.

Genesis 22:15 Then the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, 16 and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son— 17 blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. 18 In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” 19 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.
