You make a blanket unsubstantiated accusatiion....and then play the victim when asked to explain

Who is hostile here? And who is the accuser of the brethren?

That is the same kind of ignorance that we're talking about in this thread. Thanks for providing a clear example

You have 3 whole posts and you already have the board completely figured out. Really? That is amazing. It must be quite a ponderous gift to carry.

Does your knowledge come from how much you say or post, or from how much your listen. I read the thread. It looked one-sided. I read a few other threads. And, the replies to what I wrote revealed why this thread has been one-sided.

Your first post in this thread is to call Messianic Jews a 3rd religion. It was pointed out to you that that accusation is both false and groundless.

The OP itself puts the third-religion position on the table by implying it with, "And even many Christian leaders who believe that we are legitimate..." That means there are Christian leaders who believe that Messianic Judaism is illegitimate, i.e. a cult or a third religion, neither Christian nor Jewish.

Messianic Christianity is an attempt by a group of people to return to what the 1st century church practiced,

If they wanted to follow first century church practices, they'd call Him Jesus (or Iesous), not Yeshua.

The Apostles would have a really hard time recognizing just about any modern church as a church. That is not conjecture, that is fact. I say this knowing it is a fact and I am not a Messianic Christian, I am a Pentecostal. Assemblies of God.

You're a walking contradiction. If you think Messianic Judaism is the way to go, then why aren't you a Messianic Jew?

BTW, I think you, this forum, and most every Christian I know, refutes the hysterical nonsense in the OP about Christians hating Messianic Jews.

Do you hate the messianic Jews?

There are Christians (leaders or not) who believe it, and they are wrong in their assessment. Messianic Judiasm is simply a Jewish expression of faith in their own Messiah. It does not bear the marks of a cult. To call it illegitimate is more of an expression of ignroance and anti-Semtism than a genuine theological conviction.

The first Christians were Jews, not Greeks. They would have called Him "Y'shua" because that was His Name. "Y'shua" means "salvation." Jesus never heard Himself ever called by the name Iesous/Jesus while on earth.

:hmmm: A third religion?

What we call Christianity was originally a sect of Judaism. Everything about it was Jewish; nothing or hardly anything about Christianity today looks remotely Jewish - apart from some groups and churches trying to get back to the roots of our faith.

If that is your evidence to support your claim, it is a weak argument.

I sense more hostility and paranoia here than what's at a Louis Farrakhan rally (where you can also find people claiming to be the most hated people on Earth who also claim to be closer to the true religion than everyone else). Is this a Christian forum or forum for insecure Messianic Jews?

 Where in the world did you get this idea?

What in my words sound angry or hateful? :emot-questioned:

I don't follow you.

"Jesus/Iesous" is a Greek name. Why would a Jew in Israel (Judea) be given a Greek name?

"Yeshua" is Hebrew.

Why do you believe He would not have a Hebrew name?

Yeshua ben Yosef Natret would be His actual name, since He was and still is an Israeli Jew.

Jesus is an english translation (Jesus, Son of Joseph of Nazareth) of the German version

do you know that the Spanish Inquisition specifically targeted messianic jews for death?

They were called "Marranos" (pigs) and there are dozens, if not hundreds, more examples of hatred from so-called "christians" throughout history, beginning with the early church fathers and continuing until today.

Your indifference to people whom you should consider brothers in the faith, shows you aren't much different.

The Most Hated People on Earth

Saturday, 03 September 2011 09:00

Written by Ron Cantor

Who are the most hated people on earth? The Christians? The Jews? White Anglo Saxon men? African Americans? Homosexuals? The KKK? The truth is that the most hated people on the face of the earth are the Messianic Jews! We are hated by just about every group out there, from the Klan to Iran. Why? Just think about it:

  • We are Jews—the most hated ethnic group in history.
  • We are Believers in Yeshua—It seems that today anyone who believes in the bible and the principles therein are bigots and haters.
  • The non-Messianic Jewish Community is poisoned against us teaching their children that we want to destroy Judaism.
  • Much of the Christian Community sees us as Judaizers (Gal. 3), trying to bring believers under the Law (which we aren't).
  • And even many Christian leaders who believe that we are legitimate distance themselves from the Messianic community because of not wanting to offend other Jewish people.

So one can imagine why a Messianic Jew might be happier blending into the larger Christian world, rather than boldly identifying himself as a Jewish believer. Some Messianic Jews go the other way, distancing themselves from the Church world completely—and in some occasions, even denying Yeshua in the end—because of the pressures from both the Jewish and Christian communities.

More here

A Messianic Jew IS a Christian. One of the problems that some believers have is Jewish believers segregating themselves as 'Messianic Jews'. There IS no Jew or Gentile in Christ. We are all Believers. And unfortunately, there are some Jewish Believers who do upon examination of their teachings, give off a Judaizer appearance, even if they are not in truth. That's something Jewish Believers do have to be careful of, just as Gentile Believers have to be careful of being anti-Semitic. If we would just be Believers period, these problems would soon disappear.

If Christians had not been the worst persecutors of Jews in the last 2000 years, there would be no reason for Jewish believers in Y'shua to differentiate themselves. Mostly it is a way to describe themselves as "not anti-semitic" christians in order to reach the jewish community with a gospel that isn't greekish.

If Christianity were not redefining pagan rituals and then dressing them up as "holy", there would be no reason for messianic jews to attempt a return to the simple faith handed down to us by the Apostles.

But even worse is when Christians accuse jewish believers of legalism for simply obeying God at His Word, and observing the memorials that He calls "everlasting"

I agree that there are too many in the messianic movement who respond to that kind of rejection in a bitter, ungraceful manner. There is no excuse for it, yet a little bit of understanding their rejection (and some grace) from both christians and the jewish community would go a long way in healing the divide.

I think we'd agree here. Which of these are you referring to? I don't come from a 'mainline' denomination, so if you've come across any new pagan rituals, please share.

Things like keeping kosher are not required of Gentile believers (Acts 15), and I am not positive that Jewish believers are meant to continue them either since Messiah has come.

Christians persecuted Jews? Please don't forget that it was the apostate Messiah-rejecting Jews who persecuted fledgling Messianic believers with Roman help in the First century. It's one of the reasons for AD 70. That's no excuse for Christianity to turn the tables, but historical fact is what it is. In that day, Gentile believers were few and far between. The priests and leaders picked on their own people, other Jews who DID believe that Yeshua was the Moschiach.

These days, anyone who is a Believer in Jesus has a target on their back/chest, both literally and spiritually.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
