I am of the understanding (correct me if I am wrong) that heresy is actually a teaching that is the opposite of "orthodox" which I am of the understanding that is "non-traditional" teaching.

In other words, it is something that was not in the Bible or the early church.

Actually Heresy is what RCC used to kill Christians over. If you didn't line of with with the Dogma of the RCC or what the Pope said then you were committing the sin of Heresy and labeled a heretic and condemned to death.

That same spirit has moved over into the Protestant church.

There is such a thing as heretical teaching though. It would have to be defined pretty narrowly as a teaching which denies the diety of Yeshua, imo.

How about the Trinity teaching? I think that "trinity" is not an accuarate word to describe the triune nature of God...but even considering that is heresy to some.

What else is truly heretical?

Apart from the obvious concerning so called Christian cults...I think the most prevalent heresy within the Church is a distorted or incomplete understanding of the very nature of G-d because of grieving the Holy Ghost.

Ephesians 4:30 Don't grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

This artical is one of the worst most venomiss writings I have ever read. It is indeed trying to set the reader up to forsake the true LORD of heaven and earth for a false understanding of love and fellowship. Calling what the LORD has taught you "your opinon." This is the same kind of thing that they accused JESUS CHRIST of when HE started HIS ministry. It is also the kind of reception that the LORD's two winesses are going to get from the church when they come.

Its not about flattery and peoples feelings. social gatherings and cocerts. It's about loving people even the enemy enough to tell them the truth.

"Are your ready to love your brother enough to die to your opinions?" or, to look at it the opposite way, "Are your opinions more important to you than love and unity in the Body?" If the true answer to the first question is "no" and to the second, "yes", you are in big spiritual trouble!

This is the doctrine of balak . Trying to get you to look at it from a point of view other than that of the LORD .

In my observation, there are many "Christians" out there (my mother included) who basically believe that there is nosuch thing as a false doctrine. "You believe what you want to believe, I believe what I want to believe, and we'll all get along just fine and go to heaven". Apart from sacrificing a virgin in the volcano at every full moon, you can pretty much do and believe whatever you please.

So I don't think this concern about heresy is quite as much as some in here have implied. Which is sad.

Who are real christians and who are not. Who are the real body of CHRIST. It really DOES matter what you beleive. Is It what CHRIST taught?
