Hey, once more i am putting forward another question i have been pondering fora while... Im sure it's probably come up before but ah well...

So I've been thinking about what I beleive and HOW I beleive in God.

Each denomination thinks that the way they beleive in christ is the right way to go about it... i.e. the difference between Catholics and Baptists... how can we be sure which one to follow... I personally started my church life in Baptist Churches and then onto the Kings church and similar christian meetings... my friend who is here with me is catholic... how can we beleive in the same god but go about it in totally different ways?

Scrambled.

Luke 10:26-28

26 "What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"

27 He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind' ; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' "

28"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

I'm sorry to disagree, but I can't just let a newcomer go over to that forum and be, what I believe, is mislead.

We have to take a look at scripture.  Again, what Christ has said supercedes what any man has said or will ever say.

The chanting from verses arbitrarily taken from a few lines from different scriptures for 30 minutes, while blocking out knowledge?  Where did God tell us to do that?  If any of this can be supported through God's word, then I'll take a second look.  The only truth can be revealed in scripture.

It is never my intent to lead anyone astray. If you read the first part of God-Man's post it offers very good insight on receiving spiritual nourishment from the word instead of just "head knowledge" from the word.

Obviously the instruction we receive from Jesus will far supercede anything man can teach...no one has said otherwise. :)

Respectfully, KMB, I might disagree, starting with Love the Lord your God with all your heart soul and MIND.

I also typed in 'knowledge' and 'wisdom' into the Biblegateway.com. Never are these things spoken of badly. They are things we are supposed to seek and strive for, as long as it is Godly wisdom.

If there are scriptures that say wisdom or knowledge are bad and we should block out knowledge, then please post. I'd like to see them.

Artslady, it's not my intent to argue however I wonder if you read my post for what it said. You have implied much, much more than what I said. I never said knowledge nor wisdom was bad. What I said was there needs to be a combination of "head" and "heart" knowledge. I lived on "head" knowledge for far too long in my life. It needs to be balanced with "heart" knowledge. That was my point. Plain and simple.

I'm wondering where the Bible differentiates between 'heart' knowledge and 'head' knowledge, other than to differentiate between "Godly wisdom" and "worldly widsom". Is that what you mean? I would agree then that 'worldly wisdom' is not really beneficial in the big scheme of things. However, "Godly wisdom" is something that we should strive for. If I'm reading you correctly, I just don't know where it says that we should block this 'Godly wisdom or knowledge' out for any length of time. I'm not sure I understand. I'm not here to argue either, but to learn and ask. If we are supposed to do this, I just haven't seen it yet, so I'd appreciate learning where it is found in the Bible.

Artslady...maybe the confusion is coming in about the type of knowledge/wisdom I am referring to. I am referring to godly wisdom. Maybe these passages will give you a better understanding as to what I am talking about as far as having a balance of head and heart knowledge/wisdom:

Proverbs 2:1-5;10  My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding,

and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. (10) For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

Well Amen to that. Godly wisdom and knowledge from what I've seen in scripture is something to be greatly desired. I'm just wondering about any Biblical support that says that there is a time to block all of this out?

A true Christian is a leader by being a servant, and a leader is like an eagle, which can be found being alone, they do not go into large groups, they lead the people unto righteousness.

Hi all... I've finally got my computer up and runnning again and want to say thankyou to all of you who wrote back to my original message on 'What makes a Christian?'... I will be printing out some of these replies to show to my friend who was with me when I started this thread. :)

I would though like to mention a couple of things;

So if God is revealing Himself to you, and it sounds to me like He is, then answer the call, get in prayer and ask Him into your heart if you havent already, (same with your friend), ask forgiveness for your sin, get into His word and get to know Him, ask Gods Spirit to guide you into the truth, and ask God to lead you to a church that worships Him in spirit and truth

Thankyou for the brill advice but I would like to note that I have been a christian for a number of years, I do read my Bible reguarly and have a personal relationship with God. The questions I asked in this thread were for the benifit of my friend. Its not the first time I have been approached on here by someone urging me to give my life to God... I already have! Most of the stuff I bring up on here are things that I havn't been able to discuss with other christians before. Im not upset, annoyed, offended or anything like that - no worries! - I just thought I should mention it thats all.

Anyhow, thanx for the replies once again, I hope they help to show my friend the reality of God as it often does when answers come from other people. ;)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
