For me, Jesus was a household name. I was raised in church. My sister, Called came home one day when I was five and told me I was going to hell.

OMgosh, I know you didn't mean that to be funny, but I am ROTFL here! :) What else are sisters for??? ;)

No really- it is funny! Deb always says that was her first witnessing experience! My sisters are bad! :D

Are you a sister too? I'm so lost! der.gif

yep...me, debbie (called) and shannon (born again) are all sisters. I was trying to be funny in those comments I made. We still laugh about it to this day. Debbie was only 6 at the time so imagine a child telling another they are going to hell. It wasn't funny then but looking back...sheesh. BTW, Deb and I always had a good grasp of spiritual things growing up, we had rub-a-dub dollies (if anyone can remember those!) and we used to baptize them in the bathtub! :oww:

I posted my testimony in the "testimonies" forum when I first started visitiing Worthy. I know many people have joined since I posted, so I will re-post here.

I too grew up in a christian home. My parents are officers in The Salvation Army...yeah, I'm an OB (officers brat, lol) which means they are ordained pastors. All my childhood I thought this granted me some sort of special rights or prestige and I was a very proud child. ("well, my parents are MAJORS, so I can do......" came out of my mouth a lot!) I also thought this gave me some sort of pass into heaven, so while I knew about Jesus and could tell Bible stories up and down and left and right, I was not saved. When I was 13, I was at a Salvation Army summer camp and a new girl in our cabin introduced us to "games" (yeah...games...right!) such as fortune/future telling type of stuff. In the process of these "games" one of our friends became possesed and set herself on fire. I totally freaked and all that would come out of my mouth was "JESUS!" like someone scared to death calling for their mother. Shelby was there with us and she and some other kids ran to find adult help. The adults came and we basically witnessed an exorcism and then we all had a VERY LONG talk about what had happened. We ended up in the chapel and I hung around in there after everyone left. I remember thinking to myself, "I never realized this was all so real and so powerful" then a voice said to me, "now that you know, choose.." I believe it was God telling me to make my choice and stop playing games. So I prayed and asked for forgiveness and told God I wanted to serve Him, because I knew He loved me.

Hi Jade, Well for me my day of salvation came 20 years after my birth. I was raised Catholic and went to church as all children do. I was an altar boy, played guitar in the folk group at 4:00 saturday mass. Went on ski trips etc with my church and even tho i did all this i didnt feel Jesus in my life. Every Mass i would look at the cross and nothing. I beleived there was A God but i did'nt feel him. I was not Walking with him. My life was showing that as i sank further in to pits of drug use and everything that goes with that. At age 20 i knew things were very bad and with some coaxing from a few close freinds i signed up for a Catholic retreat called TEC(teens encounter Christ)it was a 3 day retreat and something began to happen thereon day 2. I was hurting from where my life was at and I really needed comfort from all of it. That night (day2) we were in small groups Praying and we were passing a Crusifix around the circle we all got to hold it as we continue to pray. Some other people had started weeping and i felt something so deep i had never felt before ever. I held that cross and looked at it and then for the first time realized what he had done for me. At that moment God shook my very soul and i broke into deep tears. I layed there and weeped for at least 30 minutes. Jesus had touched me so deeply and was freeing me of all that pain. Healing me and he continues to do that today 24 years Later. He Loves us so much we mus'nt forget that ever. Praise God Michael

I have always been unconfortable with the idea of "accepting Jesus", because it seems that you're making the assumption that Jesus has already accepted you. Which might not be the case, if you haven't repented of your sins.

Being spiritually lazy, we naturally tend to gravitate toward the easiest way of settling our religious questions for ourselves and others

Sounds like a guilt trip to me.

I can't imagine doing that with anyone. Especially with a child, who (as you mentioned) doesn't have the capacity to know what it means.

I feel like I didn't completely accept Jesus until the night I was baptized.

Of course.

Acceptance without obedience is useless.

And partial obedience (especially when you know better) is not obedience.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
