The HAARP facility will not affect the weather. Transmitted energy in the frequency ranges that will be used by HAARP is subject to negligible absorption in either the troposphere or the stratosphere - the two levels of the atmosphere that produce the earth's weather. Electromagnetic interactions only occur in the near-vacuum of the rarefied region above about 70 km known as the ionosphere.

The ionosphere is created and continuously replenished as the sun's radiation interacts with the highest levels of the Earth's atmosphere. The downward coupling from the ionosphere to the stratosphere/troposphere is extremely weak, and no association between natural ionospheric variability and surface weather and climate has been found, even at the extraordinarily high levels of ionospheric turbulence that the sun can produce during a geomagnetic storm. If the ionospheric storms caused by the sun itself don't affect the surface weather, there is no chance that HAARP can do so either.

How long do the effects of ionospheric heating last?

Since the ionosphere is, inherently, a turbulent medium that is being both "stirred up" and renewed by the sun, artificially induced effects are quickly obliterated. Depending on the height within the ionosphere where the effect is originally produced, these effects are no longer detectable after times ranging from less than a second to ten minutes.

A good analogy to this process is dropping a stone into a fast moving stream. The ripples caused by the stone are very quickly lost in the rapidly moving water and, a little farther down the stream, are completely undetectable. A University of Alaska, Geophysical Institute scientist has compared HAARP to an "immersion heater in the Yukon River."

I have to say this is definately an interesting topic.

But I also have to say that the reason Earth is experiencing weather changes,more earthquakes etc is because mankiind is polluting the earth on a daily basis. This is foretold int he Bible that there will be upheavels in Nature and there will be wars and rumor of wars in the end times. So heads up folks times they are a changing and Jesus is coming closer and closer for His church.

But I'm still at a loss over the mechanics of this. Here's how it goes.

The air we breath is the bottom of the Troposhere. The Troposphere extends up to about 10-15 km (6.2 - 9.3 mi). This is where "the weather" takes place. Those clouds we saw in the pictures from the OP are in the Troposphere.

Above the Troposphere is the Stratosphere, which extends from the top of the Troposphere to about 50 km (31.7 mi). Only the tops of huge storm clouds (cumulonimbus) extend into the bottom levels of this atmospheric layer; when they do, the portion in the Stratosphere fans out into a formation that resembles and anvil (so, they call it an "anvil"). For reference, the ozone layer lies in about the middle of this layer at the 25 km (15 mi) height.

Above the Stratosphere is the Mesosphere, which extends to about 90 km (56 mi).

Above that is the Thermosphere, which extends up to 500 km (300 mi).

The Ionosphere is a region of ions extending from the upper Mesosphere to well into the Troposphere. It extends for - oh - maybe 70 km or so (42 mi). The interaction between these ions and UV radiation from the Sun is what gives us auroras.

Ions are free-floating if you will. There is no such thing as "ripping a hole" through these ions! How can one possibly "rip a hole" through a bunch of unjoined ions (ions are of course atoms with a positive or negative charge) ate a 42 mi. thickness?

And how does affecting these ions in any way alter the weather down here?

Tell me the government is lying all you want - that doesn't mean squat to me.

Tell me how playing with ions in the Ionsophere can directly influence weather events in the Troposphere, then I'll listen.

Otherwise - this is just science at the level of The Core - which again was science fantasy at its best (or is it worst?)!

Certainly scripture says weather will change (for the worse) in the end times. I do not think that this means that it will definitely be a direct result of divine intervention.

Man could do it via technology, God could step in sirectly, or it could be a natural progression, or a combination of those, who really knows.

Well, thats kinda my point. The gov't can and does keep secrets, sometimes pretty big ones. I don't really consider any ultra-secret weapon a part of some evil conspiracy. I understand the need of government to keep weapons secret. It is the potentially lasting consequences of the use of these weapons which frightens me.
