I deleted my account a couple years ago. Unfortunately there seems to be more deception than truth in most posts and yes , people will always have itchy ears. My heart was broken and alot of family relationships were lost. It's most hurtfull when people you love and respect believe unkind things about you. Many of my family shunned me and a couple others because of some lies of one of my sisters. I knew when she came on facebook what she would do, but I never thought they would believe such things. I guess I just had them on a pedastal . I really thought they would give me the benefit of the doubt or at least try to find out.

I am so blessed though, I lay down and wake up with more love than most. I have love that's true and dependable. In this world that is a true blessing. Praise the Lord for every hurt he has comforted....

Ears.. I'm so sorry that you had that experience!! I just pray that your family will search in their hearts and seek to rebuild their kinship with you. Family is so important and the enemy knows that. My heart goes out to you. May God bless and encourage you. :emot-heartbeat:

Hey, 2J! Maybe if my experience had been like yours, I wouldn't have gotten rid of my account. But, honestly, I had a hard time reading the boring (and sometimes vile) goings on with many of my 'friends'. One young nephew began detailing his 'exploits' on FB and that's when I said adios. I could have just defriended him, I guess, but the whole experience (for me) was a little smarmy. I see you are using emoticons too yet I can't. Hmmmmm....

2J is right. FB is what you make it. I, like her, set limits and boundaries when it came to friends and what I would and would not allow on my page, and I meant what I said. My wife's oldest son wanted to friend me, and I allowed it, but I told him up front, any profanity and I will drop you like a hot potato. He used profanity, and I defriended him the same day. If someone wants to friend me and then there is no communication or interaction, I cull my friends list every couple of months and they disappear off of it. It is a good way for me to keep in touch with my kids and people I have been friends with for years.

FB IS what you make it and I enjoyed it at first. I did defriend a few people and made myself 'invisible' so some of them couldn't pounce when I signed in. I just don't have time for two online boards and my company banned FB years ago so I decided to only post here (since I post a lot during the workday). Suprisingly, a lot of my 'friends' were Christians but you sure couldn't tell by reading their posts. My kids yell at me for 'Unfacebooking' but....I'm happier without it. :mgcheerful:

I understand where you are coming from MG. I have fb friends that aren't Christians. Some I met here and there, and became friends with, but they sometimes use bad language. They also say things that aren't nice. That still doesn't mean I don't care about them as people. I am fairly tolerant of the fact others don't behave as I think they should. I just overlook the kind of things you are referring to. You never know? You might have a positive impact on them over the long haul. I suppose if they get too bad, you could simply cut them off as friends? There are certain things I wouldn't put up with. I won't put up with someone going on my page attacking Christianity, and I won't even put up with someone pushing liberal politics. I have friends who are liberals, but they aren't that serious about politics. I have had some liberals who wanted to be fb friends, but I knew they were only wanting to get a foothold to try to convert me, so I turned them down. Again, it is about your purpose for being there, and what you make of it? You are in control of your page.

I tried to overlook some of what was being discussed (and the language!). Maybe it's harder because I'm a woman but I sometimes felt like I needed a shower. Not a positive experience.

Greetings MG,

When I signed up for fb. I made an outline to what I would and wouldn't allow on my page..(as for the ads understandable). My page is only for uplifting and encouraging folks. It's also a way to share how proud I am of the accomplishments of family and friends near and far. I was very "surprised" at the friend request from so many of my children friends..whom I have known as babies. I'm also blessed that many reach out to me for advice concerning their daily lives by personal messenger..as well as their walk with Christ or those who are seeking. I even have a few Worthy friends on there.

I also have church family and people from the past..whom I have declined to accept..simply because..we have never had any connection other than in passing.

What I'm trying to say is..fb is what you make it. :emot-heartbeat:

It's great that you've had that experience on FB, but my background and life experience is a bit different. :)

I was disowned by my earthly family when I got saved, and lost most of my "friends" from my old life in the process. It was a great trade. There are people in my past that I frankly never want to hear from again. I was involved in many things I'm not proud of after meeting Jesus and the past is best left in the past. I know so many people who have had nothing but problems on FB, and there's enough trouble in real life for me that I really don't want any on the computer too.

Call me old school, but I'd rather have a face-to-face type relationship with others. :)

I'm starting to get tired of it. I was able to reconnect with some old friends whom I had lost touch with. But I have also been hurt very deeply by people I met on there (Christians, no less).

The thing that amazes me is these people who have 1,000 friends or whatever. I can't fathom how a person can have that many friends. My total is less than 100.

I wonder if facebook will still be so popular five years from now.

not to play devils advocate here-but I see a lot of people who leave facebook because they are "hurt" by other people on here. I fail to see the reason here, you can be hurt just as easy by people on online forums, at work, church, etc. If we were to leave everything because people said hurtful things, wed stay at home with no human contact whatsoever. Yes, some people can be rude on facebook, but I learned a long time ago not to let stuff go to heart-if someone says something rude to me, oh well. If someone de-friends me, again, oh well-Its their loss. I have never defriended anyone-it doesnt bother me in the least bit, if they got a problem with one of my posts, life goes on.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
