I'm not sure where you're going with this, but Ephesians 4:5 is a two-fold baptism. Firstly by the Spirit into the body.

Secondly, by water as a believer's confession of identification with Christ's death, burial and resurrection.

Hebrews 6:1,2 speak to the Old Testament doctrines.

Works that were at one time right, but because of the presence of Christ, they are no longer. They are dead.

Doctrine of baptisms speaks not to Christian baptism, but it refers to the ceremonial washings that were so prominent among the priests

...and the Israeli people. Hebrews 9:10 It compares the Old with the New, and how what was once acceptable without Christ, now is not, because of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ.

I really appreciate your post ... and, yes, I've heard this before.

However, there are obviously more than one baptism mentioned in the NT.

You might speak to the baptism with fire verses ... and the baptism with the Holy Spirit verses

in which the Spirit comes UPON people, which has nothing to do with salvation.

Yes, yes...the Holy Spirit is indeed "fire". That does actually make sense, though I've no scriptural proof to back me up. Okay, Matthew 21:25, speaks of baptism, not pertaining to salvation, rather to John's ministry. That's the only one I can come with at the moment.

As for baptism with "fire", I did find Matthew 3:11, stating that the baptism with the Holy Spirit is a baptism of blessing, while the baptism with fire speaks of judgement. Luke 3:16 says pretty much the same thing. So it would seem that baptism with fire is for judgement.

But you are definitely right about there being more than one type of baptism. Especially the baptism with fire. That's a new one for me, so I did learn something. Go figure, lol. :)

Baptized with fire:

Hbr 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.

1Pe 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

Hbr 5:8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

The list goes on. If your Christian experience has been nothing but roses without trials of fire then:

Hbr 12:8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.

Much can be said of the trials and testing that Gods children go though as he proves them.

Ephesians 4:1-10 (KJV)

1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Luke 3:16 (KJV)

16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

Good, you're past the "only one baptism" nonsense.

Now you need to get a revelation of what "the baptism with the Holy Spirit" really is!

Hint: it's not the salvation baptism mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:13.

The info you need is in this thread ...

everyone that quotes Hebrews 6 and tries to start some doctrine out of Hebrews six always omits the most important Verse,

Hebrews 6:3

3 And this will we do, if God permit. KJV

the teacher of hebrews is teaching a what if Game here in scriptures, we will set aside these things if God permits, also one baptism is scriptural. One Lord, One faith, one Baptism. we are all baptized of the same Spirit, not all Christians have been water Baptized, nor will all christians be water baptized. but all will have received the baptism of the Spirit, by the Same Spirit, there were two baptisms in scripture, thus we get doctrines of Baptism. But Jesus, John the Baptist and Paul all taught that the water baptism was replaced by the Spirit baptism. Paul came upon some believers(Acts !9) that had the Baptism of John and Paul said they needed the other baptism of the Holy Spirit

That which is natural/carnal comes first then that which is spiritual. Water baptism is a teaching tool to explain the the receiver what is necessary to receive that which is spiritual. After receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit one will also undergo a third baptism, one of fire/trial which purifies the one who believes.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
