Yes giving is a big part of being a Believer.

As a minimum you give at least 10 percent of what God has given to you. Jesus never condemned tithing or giving.

I believe tithe still applies meaning 10 percent belongs to your local church and it is not to be considered yours or part of your giving. If all you give each time is 10 percent then you not giving because 10 percent belongs to God your just returning what belongs to him.. If you not tithing 10 percent to your local church then your robbing God.

If you remember the story of Jesus speaking of the little old women giving all she had in the temple Treasury. Jesus didn't condemn her for it , he actually spoke very highly of her saying she gave all she had and how blessed she would be for giving out of her need instead of her wealth.

Today most selfish greedy Church members would have condemned her for giving all she had to the Church. They would have talked about how she was so naive and deceived and they also would have condemned the Church she gave to as thieves and robbers.

God has never told us to stop tithing and giving but contrary. People find all kind of excuses not to give or tithe. If anybody had any excuse not to give it would had been that Lil ol women Jesus spoke of. She was poor and broke and she gave all she had into the temple treasury in which most likely will be used selfishly and greedily by corrupt Jewish High Priest and Pharisees.

If you want to be blessed and honored by God you must give not just 10% but all that you have. If you want to be cursed well dont give and tithe. Jesus spoke many times saying sell all that you have and give it away and come follow me.

You should feel guilty if your not giving back to God after he has given us so much.

Jesus commands us to Give.

Luk 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

I would say this, be wise were you give your money. Dont sow your seed in bad soil but in Good soil where the money will go to reach the lost such as missionary efforts to reach people around the world. If you see a brother or sister in need give to them what they need and God will bless you for it.

Your not exempt from giving just because you are poor and broke. These are times you should be givning more to God and trusting him to provide for you.

God bless,

The reason I tend to go against the demand on tithes is because it puts a heavy burden on certain poor people.

I was poorer than dirt. After 20 years in an abusive marriage, my husband ditched me.

He kept all our savings, home, furnishings and the nice, new car. He gave me a 200K miles old beat up Nissan and virtually nothing but clothing.

I left empty handed. I could have fought for more but my Lord said, "Let it go; I will be your provider."

Nine years later, he's broke, down in the dirt (I'm sorry about that and have even loaned him money) he's spent all the savings and is in terrible shape.

I now have a lovely home worth over 200K, a new Town and Country and every need tended to.

When I was poor and down on my luck, I STILL tithed.

You tithe and give for the RIGHT MOTIVES and God honors that motive. He WILL provide.

Let no man fool you; God doesn't lie. If you give with a pure heart, He will be your shield and protection. He will exalt you and give you in abundance out of His kindness and mercy.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a Word of Faith believer. I am only a Word of God believer.

MOTIVE is key.

With the jobs that pay so low and the cost of living so high some can't give 10%. My wife and I at one time were giving above the tithe. Then all of a sudden we have a $1,100 hospital bill and other bills. We continued to tithe for a time but kept falling in debt. When I stopped tithing, we started to pull out of debt again. Now that we are further out of debt we can give more. We love to give to the work of God but there are situations that tithing can be really tough. When we were going through our real difficult time and not tithing, the pastor of my church threatened to kick me off being the leader of the worship team because of it. I ended up leaving the church and was really hurt bad because of it.

Before I got kicked out I did my reserach on tithing because I was always told that if I tithed the windows of Heaven would be opened and I wouldn't be in debt. When I went in debt, I started doubting God and researched the Scriptures on tithing. As I studied I realized that tithing isn't enforced in the New Testament but giving with a cheerful heart is. I actually withheld giving from the church for a little while because of how hard they demanded money. One time I was going to give money but then they decided to have everyone walk up front and place their money in the offering and because I don't believe in showing people what I do I didn't. I had to learn all over to give cheerfully and not be worried about giving 10%. Some may say that tithing is hardly anything but if you really struggling with money, it can be a heavy burden. Would a good father burden his children with giving money when they are in a tough spot. I honestly don't believe God the Father would be like that.

I showed my old pastor the article on tithing and he forbidded that I showed it to anyone in the church. Hmm, I wonder if it exposed some truth that he didn't want reveal. There also came another kid into the church that was stuggling and he went up for prayer. The pastor or anyone in the church did not offer any help but insisted that he gave tithes and offerings. Show me a Scrpiture where the New Testament church treated the poor like this. Is it right for someone not to pay bills so they can tithe? The whole tithing thing has been blown way out of what it origianlly was. I lost my home church just because I wasn't paying tithe. My wife and I right now don't have a set church to go to. I can understand the pastor removing me from the worship team for things like sexual immorality, gossiping, backbiting, or any other sin but it was for not tithing. Other people on the worship team would where band t-shirt with bands that blaspheme God yet they weren't asked to move.

The church needs to focus on loving one another before they demand tithes be paid.

Nate

Tithing is a principle that is not in the law. It came before the law. Abraham knew to give a tenth to Melchizedec.

We are to give with a cheerful heart and consider that everything we have is given to us from the Lord. We owe Him everything.

If we think 10% is too much consider how much He has given to us and where it is being spent. Are we just being selfish?

Mal 3:10  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].

Do we want a blessing?

Imagine if you will, Paul telling the people to give 10% no matter what. Back then if you owed a dept and couldn't pay it you would be thrown in prison.

Now ya got preachers saying things like "take that overextended credit card and plant a seed of $100. and slap the devil in the face"

God don't want your borrowed money and he wants you to pay your bills. This is just another bondage that leaders are putting on the poor.

Also, we can't be under the curse of poverty if we're under the Blood of Jesus.

In his love,

Brian

Hi gypc,

Imagine if you will, Paul telling the people to give 10% no matter what. Back then if you owed a dept and couldn't pay it you would be thrown in prison.

This would be an example of legalism: "no matter what". That is why tithing is not addressed directly by Paul. Indirectly Paul directs us all to the OT for examples.

Ro 15:4  For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Now ya got preachers saying things like "take that overextended credit card and plant a seed of $100. and slap the devil in the face"

This is greed and manipulation and has nothing to do with tithing. They that do such things are charlitans and con artists.

God don't want your borrowed money and he wants you to pay your bills. This is just another bondage that leaders are putting on the poor.

God most definitly wants us to be the head and not the tail.

Mal 3:10  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it].

Also, we can't be under the curse of poverty if we're under the Blood of Jesus.

Many have not looked at curses as described in the bible. Here is a thread that deals with curses.

3Jo 1:2  Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

This verse has been misinterpreted and misapplied by many in the prosperity movement. What do you think about it?

Grace and Peace,

LT

Nate: Honey, I'd run, don't walk...from a Church that imposes strict tithes.

The reason you tithe is LOVE...let me say that real clear:

LOVE!

Okay? Love is the motive. You give 10 percent out of faith and love.

Forget the hospital bill. I was in the SAME BOAT and I ended up with the hospital bill being WAIVED!

You'd be surprised what God can do.

But nevertheless, share your bread with the poor. Clothe the naked. Give a warm coat to someone shivering. Render your umbrella to someone in the rain. Give and it shall be given unto you.

Give and give abundantly ...but do it for the motive of LOVE. Then, you'll see the heavens open up and provide for your needs.

Trust me. God works.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
