I'm feeling a little pressure here... could I have a third choice ???

Nope!! : ) (you can have both lol!!)

I guess it's how one perceives charisma...looks based, character based, confidence based or that something you just can't put your finger on.

Character seems to be easier to define and we would all love to have amazing character..we can I guess but to me it seems to be developed under intense circumstances.

I think of places where the Scripture indicates Christ presence as dominating even mesmerizing the baser sort 'solders' Jn 7:46 ... I desire to hear Him Speak so much!

It's going to be awesome.... so very awesome! Your kinda tight on those third choices LOL! Steven

Spot on Steve

And haven't we also had the desire so strong in us to read the Bible and spend time with Him, the very same Jesus those soldiers saw with their eyes and heard with their ears. His "attractiveness" (through His Word) resonates through the pages and the centuries to us, today.

and....nope..no third choice... :26:

cha·ris·ma/kəˈrizmə/

Noun:

  1. Compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others.
  2. A divinely conferred power or talent.

χάρισμα is the Greek word for Charisma, which is translated gifts and speaks of the various abilities given by God for the purpose of ministering to others. I don't believe it is ever used to mean definition #1. Satan is very charismatic by definition #1 while Jesus is not.

Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, [there is] no beauty that we should desire him.

A note about Charisma: The gift of prophecy is charismatic and the prophets are not desirable but most hated for their knowledge of the will of God they express to rebellious, proud and arrogant hearers who would rather stone them than hear their words. Jesus was surrounded by men with stones more than once.

char·ac·ter/ˈkariktər/

Noun:

  1. The mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual.
  2. The distinctive nature of something.

When biblically seeking the understanding of Character we need to look at the word 'image'. The Greek root word for Character, 'χαρακτήρ' only appears once in the NT and it is used to describe how Jesus was exactly like God.

Hbr 1:3 Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image (character,χαρακτήρ) of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

The end assessment is that beauty that attracts is vain but charisma in the form of the gifts of God are to be desired, while character is what is essential as we are to be conformed to the image of Jesus who is the express image of Gods person.

In Jesus Name,

Gary

I'm not quite so sure about Jesus having charisma. In the beginning, He had a lot of followers, but in John 6, all of His disciples left Him except the 12 He chose. Then when the people had a choice between Christ and Barabus, they chose Barabus and shouted to crucify Jesus. If He had charisma, it seems to be an unpopular one toward the end.

Don't forget Selene, Jesus's crucifixion was a fullfilment of the will of God.

That is an interesting information, Gary. Thanks for posting it. :mgcheerful:

I love having the Holy Spirit dwelling within me as it makes my days wonderful. It is he who guided me to write what I have written and all glory, honor and thanksgiving be to God. He is awesome. I take credit for any errors presented :)

It was His message not the presentation portion... Unless you die you cannot live, give instead of keep, love enemies, etc ...

plus they knew who He was!

Jn 15:19-20

19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world,

therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me,

they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

NKJV

Even on the Cross the soldier reckoned to His greatness of Being... Love, Steven

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
