I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There is not a day that goes by that I am not critized for my faith in this church. I can't stand it when people who don't even try to learn about what they are critizing. I would never put down anothers beliefs, I don't feel that a true christian would do that. I would love any oppion on this matter. I don't mind if you disagree, but don't be mean. thanks

jordan24,

My friend,

If you went to the doctor, and he told you that the report is terminal, and that you must set your affairs in order quickly, would the doctor be mean?

In life there are tens of thousands of choices that you can make that are not really of everlasting consequence, but the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is not one of them.

There are thousands of ways to make chili, but there is only one way to everlasting life, and because the stakes are so high, most of us can't discuss so great a matter like we were discussing a chili receipe, so great and so serious is the matter.

Your membership in the LDS will not gain for you everlasting life, and that is the reason that the answer sounds so mean. This choice is terminal, and the reasons are as follows.

The bible is the road map that God gave us, and God, being precise as He is, doesn't want anyone adding to or taking away the directions of Everlasting Life.

The LDS does EXACTLY that which the Lord hates by adding the book of Morman, the doctrines of covenants, the pearl of great price, ect.

By the time LDS is done offering directions, the soul is inexplicably misdirected to a faraway planet, to a false god, (formerly to multiple wives), and to rituals so bizarre that there just is not enough room here to WARN of it all.

I have read the LDS books, even been to the LDS temple in Canada (in Beazer? something like that), and have been in LDS meetings. I took the time to learn what it is you are being taught, and while the encouragement of wholesome family values is a very good thing, at the end of the day the directions of everlasting life are muddled and the souls are left wandering blindly in great danger of eternal seperation from the true God.

So like the doctor, not wanting to be mean, I must give you this serious news, however, unlike the doctor, there is great hope for your recovery of the way of everlasting life, if you will truely seek the living God and read the bible with the intention of understanding the gospel that Jesus gave us.

I do hope your search for the true gospel of Jesus Christ is successful, and I am praying for your success. I hope I didn't sound too mean.

Welcome Jordan to Worthy Boards!

Your request for kind responses is very reasonable. Since you are not here to proselytize but rather fellowship, I expect you will find the saints cordial and loving. Remember though, the boards are open to everyone

Another Traveler Godd post !!

Jordan you heard the answer in the posts above, why don't you start reading the Bible for yourself without the Mormon book (which was added and therefore not inspired by the Holy Spirit.)

Welcome to the board and I respect you for what you believe but sorry I can't agree with the doctrine. I hope you will read the Bible and let Jesus talk to you through His word.

Jesus is God you know and only He can save you from yourself and bring you to heaven  Isn't He wonderful?

God bless you with finding the truth in Jesus , He's the only way , He's the way the truth and the life. :emot-hug: Angels

People believe things not because they are hedging their bets. They believe things because they believe them to be true. Some beliefs leave their adherants more open and tolerant of others beliefs. Others place its adherants in a more stern position having to comdemn other beliefs. But in general it is fairly obvious that if you have one set of beliefs you are going to believe that someone with a differnet set of beliefs is wrong.

For members of the LDS church they have a double hit relative to other Christian sects. On the one hand the skeptic community has a field day with Joseph Smith's background and the historical take on issues. And then from the Sectarian side they take a hit from the orthodox churches that believe the teachings of the LDS church to be heretical.

I agree with telling someone if I feel they are in danger of following a false doctrine. I did...but when dishing out our opinions we need to watch ourselves too. Is it Ezekial where its said to tell your brother of his wrong doings and leave it at that...for if he dies and you told him of his wrong doings then we are clean but if he dies and you didn't warn him then we were wrong too. Now those aren't the exact words of course. I will look it up later.

I was in the wrong place for a while....but I was led out. Do I ever regret or beat myself up over it? Not anymore. Because I know at that time in my life I was where God wanted me to be....call it a stepping stone. He pulled me out when it was time....but as God's child you need to heed the warnings and signs He gives you. Those who ignore them can get mired down.

Hope that made some sense :emot-hug:

Love and Blessings,

Angel

P.S. Welcome to worthy Jordan

Found it....

When I say to the wicked, you shall surly die, and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

Ezekiel 3: 18,19

Love and Blessings,

Angel

Well, as Christians, I believe that we are called to refute false doctrines wherever we find them. If I should disagree with you, then I should have no reluctance about saying so.

But this must be done with kindness and respect.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
