One receives the Holy Spirit when baptized, Acts 2:38

Can

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.Acts 2:38

Any Man

Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:35-38

Really Think To Box God: The Holy Ghost In

And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts 10:42-48

One receives the Holy Spirit when baptized, Acts 2:38

Welcome to Worthy. :)

This passage in Ephesians below points to the fact that once a person hears the truth of the Gospel and believes in Jesus Christ that person is sealed with God's promised Holy Spirit.

Eph. 1:13-14

13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

God bless,

GE

One receives the Holy Spirit when baptized, Acts 2:38

We attain the Holy Spirit through Christ; In John 14 Christ promises us the Holy Spirit, not through being baptized, but He says this "If you love Me and keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to help you and be with you forever." Not because of anything we have done, or anything that we can do but because of whom God is. Not only did He love us enough and send His son to bear our sins; but He also delivers us a Helper, to guide us in truth, to bring us through the darkness of this cruel world. How great is our God!

Read John 14 VERY carefully. Jesus was talking to His apostles. What will you do with Acts 2:38? "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

Eph.1:13,14 was written to those who were already Christians, the Ephesians had already been baptized. Acts 2:38 reads: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." In vs. 36 those on Pentecost were told to believe and vs. 37 verifies their belief saying "they were pricked in their hearts", and then vs. 38 follows with repentance+baptism=remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2 was to those not yet Christians, Ephesians was to those already Christians. It begins with hearing the word, belief of it, repentance of sin then baptism for the remissin of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

But water baptism does not always precede the receiving of the Holy Spirit.

Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Acts 10:48 (Cornelius) is the only time the Holy Spirit was received before water baptism. Acts 10 and 11 record the conversion of Cornelius the 1st gentile convert. The baptism of the Spirit was given on that occasion to convince the Jew that the gentile was to be included in the scheme of redemption. BTW, there are measures of the Spirit and that of Acts 10,11 is not the same measure as Acts 2:38

God bless

You move into the area of adding to scripture with such conclusions as the scripture does not declare what you have here. I merely showed you from scripture that water baptism does not always precede the receiving of the Holy Spirit. I received the Spirit long before I was ever baptized. Are you declaring that I and others like me did not?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
