Horizon East,

Tell me that you actually read the scriptures that I posted in Acts Ch 13 before you posted?

The Sabbath day was given to man. It was given before the Laws of Moses and before the Ten Commandments. It was a day set aside, sanctified, and made holy unto God. But its not the "Jewish Sabbath". It is Gods Sabbath (ex.16:23)(Gen 2:3)

Remember THE Sabbath day, not Remember A Sabbath day.

We should worship God everyday, but the Sabbath day, instituted by God Himself is the seventh day.(Gen 2:3) Then God blessed the SEVENTH day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Acts 20 verse 7 The first day of the week started at sunset Saturday(Sat being the 7th day) Hebrew reckoning of time was the evening and morning are the first day.)

It being the evening , the first day of the week, hence the many lamps in the room in verse 8, Paul spoke until midnight. Then at daybreak He (Paul) departed (verse 11).

Coming togethere to "break bread" is a hebew idiom meaning to have supper. To eat supper. Not communion but to sit and eat together.

Acts 20:16 The Day of Pentecost was always on a Sunday. It had been since its institution in the Old Testament scriptures until today. The Jews celebrate The Day of Pentecost even in our times on Sunday. The Day of Pentecost has always fell on a Sunday, exactly 7 Sabbaths plus 1 day, or 50 days after Passover.

1Corinthians 16:2 speaks of laying something aside, storing up as he may prosper,

Fisrt off, look at the word "day" it is in italics right? This means it was added, the origonal greek reads "On the first of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper......

This does not necessarily mean money, the verse reads lay something aside, this could have meant food, clothing, money, ect..

verse 3 says and when I come... Paul did not say what day he would come, just that when he does come he would go also with the delegate chosen to bear the gift to Jerusalem.

There is no reference to worship, no reference to being assembled togethere, just reference to let each individual to lay something aside. No reference to the Sabbath day or even a day of corporate worship.

To me, the Sabbath day has not changed since God is the same yesterday today and forever. We should worship God everyday, and we can even assemble ourselves togethere and worship Him every day of the week if we want to. But, the Sabbath day is still the 7th day. That has never changed.

What constitues a day when there is no time?

What happens when there is no sun or moon because the Lord is the light?

Note that the Light was created before the sun and the moon.

Note that the 7th day has no evening and morning listed in the Genesis mention.

The Sabbath God rested on was not supposed to end. It was not for God. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. There was no Sabbath needed prior to man sinning, it was added until the Seed should come, and He came.

No time? Gen1:1 In the BEGINNING

Gen1:13 evening and morning 3rd day

Gen 1: 19 evening and morning 4th day

Gen 1:23 evening and morning 5th day

Gen 1: 31 evening and morning 6th day

Gen 2: 1-4 7th day

Yes, Yeshua did come. The Sabbath was not created for man because he sinned. The Sabbath was created in the very beginning before he sinned. Yeshua is Lord of the Sabbath. He created it, He sanctified it, He made it holy. He gave us the 10 commandments, Not Moses. These ten commandments were written by God in Stone by His own hand. They have not been done away with. They were not nailed to the cross. Yeshua was.

The Sabbath was not "added" until the Seed should come. The Seed is the one that wrote them. He is the word, the instructions, the law (TORAH). Yeshua is the spoken word, became flesh and dwealt among us. Immanual, God with us.

Yeshua kept the Sabbath. He even said he did not come to do away with the law and the prophets. Not one jot or titl will pass away until heaven and earth do and that hasnt happened yet.

I have no beef about worshipping on Sunday, or everyday for that matter. But there is no where in scripture that says the Sabbath day is done away with.

Isaiah 66:22 "For as the new heavens and the new earth

Which I will make shall remain before Me," says the Lord, "So shall your descendants and your name remain. (23) And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, and from Sabbath to another, all flesh shall come to worship before Me , says the Lord. (Note:-nothing about men being sinful here, in fact, these are the ones that are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb)So Yeshua is coming back, to rule and reign for 1000 years, and we will worship him on the Sabbath. Shalom

The scriptures plainly teach that Christians participated in public worship (Acts 4: 23). That public worship was on the Lord's Day (Sunday) and was presented as an essential part in the worship of God.

you can not prove by the scriptures that the Lord's day is anything but the Sabbath. You can imply it all you want based on the (gentile) church history...but it ain't in the Bible.

you GO, Yahsway.

But you should know that Wordsower came out of a long battle of SDA so she sees this discussion through the lenses of legalism. Go easy on her...she's a sweetie.

But doesn't it amaze you at how far some people will run from just accepting the truth? What is the problem that these folks have with admitting that the Sabbath is Friday evening to Saturday evening and it never changed?

Why don't they just admit that this IS the Sabbath and they go to church on Sunday. There is no condemnation in that. In fact, going to church on Sunday allows them all day Saturday for a day of rest if they so choose.

Peace to You Wordsower, I meant no disrespect. You asked some very good questions. I have some dear friends who like you also have come out from the SDA church.

I guess I tend to get a little too passionate on the subject of the Sabbath. I never meant to imply that is a salvation issue cause i dont believe it is.

And what a wonderful compliment to you from Yod. And if there is one thing i have learned from his postings is that he is very genuine.

Again Wordsower, I apologize for coming off a little to strong.

Thanks Yod for your encouragement.

By the way, I do keep the Sabbath, but I also attend a small assembly on some Sunday nights and Wed. nights thru out the week. I love the fellowship!! Shalom

Yahsway,

I correspond with angry Adventists all the time, so I don't get easily offended. Presently my mother is on a quest to show me how deceived I am.

Regarding the Sabbath, I'll just post here part of my testimony. I am not one that will say the Sabbath was changed or deleted. My conviction is that it was fulfilled in Christ.

I was invited to my neighbor's "Sunday" church (oh horrors) three years ago and I just loved it, I hadn't really had much contact with church or God since I grew up and went on my own, the SDA church really messed me up there, I was quite mad at God, if there was a God. That was my state.

It was a little Pentecostal church. The first day I knew there was something different about these people. They were real, they were happy, the were so genuine and I was not used to that in church. After attending a few weeks I knew I had to convince these people to shut down on Sunday and observe the Sabbath, after all, they were sincere, right?

I got my Bible out and looked up every scripture I could find under sabbath, then commandment, then law. As I read the words before me I couldn't believe my eyes! I was reading about faith and grace and old covenent and new covenent and laws of Moses and Commandments left after the cross and I prayed, "God, show me the sabbath so that I can enlighten these people. Lord, they're good people and they need the truth, help me out here!" I still read what I thought to be saying I am under grace and not works or the law.

I was at work on a Tuesday before lunch and got the dreaded call from daycare that my son was sick and I had to pick him up. I seldom miss work and I never like to be out, but I had to go home. I picked my son up and he was sick! I prayed for the Lord to make him well so I could go to work the next morning, I had faith and I got up Wednesday at the regular time to get ready and he was still sick. I took the opportunity to study my Bible some more. This went on for the rest of the week. At some point in the week I changed my prayer to: "God, I want to do your will, these scriptures seem to be pointing me to something I've never been taught and I need to know this is your will. Whatever your will is, I want to do it."

He led me to scripture after scripture explaining to me so plainly that Jesus died on the cross to save me from my sin and the ordinances of the law and that was the only thing that could save me! I felt like a million pounds had been lifted off of me and I was so happy and excited, I just had to call everyone and tell them! I called my cousin who recently started going back to the SDA church about my revelation and she assured me that I still had to keep the 4th commandment despite the grace. I knew it didn't say in there anywhere that I had to go to church on Sunday, so was she right?

I searched some more and prayed and found Hebrews 4:4-9: For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: And God rested on the seventh day from all His works"; and again in this place: They shall not enter My Rest." Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and to those whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, again He designates a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a long time, as it has been said: Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts." For if Joshua had given them rest, he He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.

WOW!!!! It wasn't a day, it was a permanent peace, a rest like you can never know until you've been saved by grace! I noticed it was capitalized too. I prayed, "Lord, let me know without a shadow of a doubt that it is true!" Next, he sent me to Hebrews 10:32&35: ( But recall the former days in which after you were illuminated, you endured a great struggle with sufferings: and joyfully accepted the plundering of your goods, knowing that you have a better and enduring possesion for yourselves in heaven. Therefore, do not cast away your confidence which has great reward.) I can not describe to you what I felt when I read those verses, every hair on me stood up, every chill bump came up and the presence of God was so strong I can not find words to describe it.

I'm so glad to have found common ground with Yod. He is probably the first Sabbatarian I have met that I feel really thinks I'm ok with God either way and I feel the same about him.

God knows I would do absolutely anything for Him and if I truly believed He wanted me to observe the Sabbath I'd do it in a second. I'd stand on my head all day if that is what He asked.

I'm fully convinced in my mind and I know He loves me and I'm safe with Him!

Sabra

Sabra, Your testimony is awe inspiring! I too attend a small pentecostal assembly. I used to attend another one and was worship leader there for many years, but as God would have it, I do not attend there anymore.

I also attend a messianic jewish assembly since my husband is a jewish believer, he feels more comfortable around his hebrew roots. I understand your struggle with ones who say you must keep the laws in order to be saved. But if that were the case, then we wouldnt have needed a savior.

The law was never meant to save anyone. That much I do know and believe. Even in some messianic circles my heart achs because I see so many lately going completely over into judaisim and leaving Yeshua behind. How sad.

Years ago, when I was searching for myself about the sabbath and all, I attended an SDA assembly for about 1 year. There were a lot of nice people and they taught me a lot about health and eating right, but it was soooooo dry. I guess by now you know what I mean.

I know that my eternal existence, my eternal rest is in Him and with Him. I agree with that too. But for me, that speaks of my everlasting life and the peace of that alone brings me much joy.

It is no sin to worship anyday of the week. And yes, everyone must be convinced in their own mind about the sabbath. I would never judge anyone on this matter.

Thank you for sharing a part of your life and testimony.

I will be praying for your mom and you. I know that all things work for good to those who love Him. He is faithful I know that. Blessings Sabra, you are a sweetie!

"And when the church finally became predominantly gentile....well....there went the neighborhood" - yod, you didn't say this in a racial way, right?

yes, I did.

I am not jewish though. The history shows that the "church" has historically been the worst persecutor of jews and almost all of it began with the virulently hateful writings of early church fathers.

First of all your “Gentile hate”, the design of which is but to inflame, is irresponsible and should be discarded.

The history of violence done to the Jewish people by the gentile church can't be just swept under the carpet because you find it politically incorrect speech, and it is certainly not irresponsible.

Yod,

I wish I could bring you to Israel. If you ever got a taste of what the Sabbath really is, you would agree that the church could use some of that kind of "bondage".

PM me and I'll tell you where to send my tickets. I'd love to come.:thumbsup:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
