The fact that you are asking the question and struggling with the responses is an indication that you are not comfortable with your actions. Rather than looking to the WB community to tell you what is right and wrong, I'd suggest you pray and ask for God's guidance in this matter.

Amen serotta!

I only put the basics of a study on "wine." To really understand how God thinks about "wine" you need to read and STUDY all the verses on wine. That is if you really want to know.

As for these opinions:

At least 2 oz. of wine a day is beneficial to your health. (Cooper Aerobics center)

A glass of wine a day helps prevent heart attack. (Medical report on FoxNews network)

1Co 1:20 Where [is] the wise? where [is] the scribe? where [is] the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

1Co 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

Drinking is not a sin, getting drunk however, is. As with most things, you have to consider intent and self-control. What is a temptation for some, may not be one for others. My brother and his wife went to Tuscany on their honeymoon and enjoyed the wine tasting in the vineyards. They occasionally have a glass of wine to celebrate something but NEVER get drunk. They are not sinning in either of these circumstances. However, if I were to go out and drink with friends it would be a sin because #1 I'm under-age and #2 most of the drinking that takes place among teenagers is in excess and with the intent of getting wasted. It's not only a sin, it's just stupid.

is drinking till your drunk a sin, even if you can still stand and have some form of control over your body?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yes Paul says that drunkeness is a sin. You open yourself up to the enemy and though you may be able to stand, walk ect you are not in full control of your mind.

first of all, who ever said i dont know the dangers of drinking you very very wrong. i come from a broken home, my dad is an alcholic.

i do drink and smoke, but its down to 2 times a week at the moment, it was 5 times a week this time last year.  i dont do anything dangerous when i drink, i just sit and watch tv or play videogames, i am still fairly coherant and can hold a detailed conversation while drinking.

i dont feel that god is in my life enough. i know he is, but i cant seem to feel it, im guessing this is becuase of my sin. i have control over it, but it is still there, i am still greatly tempted at times, and find it hard to resit with the highly depressed moods i get. when praying doesnt seem to have much effect i turn to the world to take the edge off a bit.

im frustrated becusae i know i could and should be a "better" christian, but dont have the power to get there, if i ever will. i feel lost and confused in a sea of spiritual questions and dogma.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

You say you have control over it but it is more likely that it has control over you. Can you comfortably go a week or two weeks without a drink and smoke without missing it?

I am an alcoholic/addict who is recovering and now I am attempting to give up smoking. I feel that even smoking effects my closeness with God and my ability to hear him even though I do get filled with the Holy Spirit. Any sin at all means that the Holy Spirit can't work as effectively as He could if we are totally clean.

I don't want to be luke warm anymore!!

I have to take medication(Ativan 2 mg daily) for a  cronic neurological condition and this Benzo-type drug induces a slight mind altering state. I hope God will forgive me. I feel like I'm sinning when I take it but I'm afraid I would be in the looney bend by now if I didn't have it. I don't like to alter my mind because its already a bit wacky on its own. What do you do? Ive been on this med for 6 years. Maybe I should pay Benny Hinn a visit. As far as drinking, don't get drunk! Simple!

I am wondering if you have asked the elders of the church to pray for healing?

I know it's not the same but I used to be on anti-depressants and find life much better without them because God is healing my mind. I am not suicidal like I used to be. I don't think that God meant us to be on medication for the mind as he is the great physician.

I know you must be careful but please will you seek healing if you don't already.

I pray that God will completely heal you of your neurological condition so you can be free of meds. Lord bring healing by the power of your Holy Spirit. In Jesus amazing name, Amen (so be it)

By the way you're not sinning by taking it, if you have to thats ok, God understands.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
