did download the driver but it will not let me update the driver ,it says that the system does not meet requirement ,update had been canceled.

Well, if you downloaded the 64bit driver, then the videocard itself has probably gone bad...in which case I'd pull it out (or get someone to do it for me) and scoot over to whatever electronics store ya'll have in Canada and get another card. Try to get one close to original (you can go a little bit better) keeping in mind that if you get a high-end card you'll probably have to change to a larger power supply.

 

But...normally that message only comes up when the wrong driver (64 v 32 bit) is downloaded.

 

To be sure:

 

Start>computer>system properties   OR   start>right click computer>properties and look for the OS type...and double check that you downloaded the correct one.

 

I really can't think of any current malware that would cause the problems that you're experiencing...

 

Got to run for a bit and p/u the kids from camp...back in an hour or so.

One other thing real quickly...we are operating on the assumption that the machine has the original video card...a GeForce G 210...

 

Would you go back into device manager, click on display adapters and verify the nomenclature of the video card?

I had to undo the changes in the safe mode and somehow when I restarted it told me that the nvidia ge force g 210 was succesfully installed...time will tell,thanks for your help, I probably need a video card,I will let you know ,thanks alot for your help and time:)

There's obviously something going on...but as long as the system is stable now....sounds like a winner!

It doesn't work anymore,nothing comes up,I restarted it in safe mode and run the diagnostic tests,I don't know if that is good just trying to find what is going on. When I did restarted my pc I tried to undo the changes I made by trying to update the video card,now I have nothing and the sound was gone too:(

I'm just waiting now to see if I can fix it in the safe mode?

From safe mode, can you do a system restore?

 

When tapping F8 the menu comes up, and "Repair your Computer" should be there...highlighting it and pressing enter will give you a series of options...see if there is a restore point available...

 

What exactly did you try when you said that you "undid" or "tried to undo" the changes?
