I am just the opposite.  When I know a church allows people to dress like you described, I won't go there.  If we are talking about visitors, that is one thing, but not members in good standing.  When I hear of churches like you described, I am like, "what has become of the church?"  It makes me sick to my stomach people have so little respect for the house of the Lord.

Really! You will not go to a church that lets someone who dresses like me in! What if a person who belongs to your church does not have anything else to wear but a pair of jeans and a t-shirt? Will you tell them sorry you are not welcome here? I am greatly offended by this and think that you and everyone else who would dare to turn a person away from church because of the way they are dress need to take a look at their own hearts. Is this really what Christ teaches us?  Did Jesus go around and tell people you are not welcome in my Father's house because I don't like what you are wearing? It is because of people who think like you do that the unchurch keep staying unchurched! This is where I end this discussion with you. You wouldn't want to associate with someone like me who dares to wear jeans to church anyway. The Pharisees where also great followers of the laws as well.

No sister. Butero would offer to buy them a dress. If they refused they would be considered "in rebellion" and not welcomed as full members of his church.

As to the underlined this is one of the reasons that so many of the younger generations can't seem to relate with those who are church goers. This is a form of legalism and spiritual abuse at it's core.

I don't blame you for leaving the discussion.

Your use of that one scripture is interesting GE as I would use it in reverse.  Obedience would mean women wouldn't dress like a man.  Dresses are not more expensive than jeans.  I know of many stores where you can find a dress that is cheaper than jeans.  As I also have stated in times past, had any woman been too poor to afford a dress for church, I would have bought her one.

I'm not surprised.

What if she didn't WANT to wear a dress? What if a woman would say "I don't like dresses." Would you still welcome her in Christ in the bonds of fellowship? :help:

I wouldn't let her join the church, because she was in open sin.  I would treat her like anyone else in willful disobedience.  She could attend, but couldn't join the church.

I see. So this is a salvation issue for you. So in order for a woman to be accepted in the local Body of Christ and have membership of a local church she must not wear pants. Is that correct?

Aren't you a preacher or pastor Butero?

My position is that a little leaven leavens the whole lump, and those in the church need to set a good example.  In addition to that, they need to respect God's house.  It isn't so much a salvation issue as that I don't want new people seeing this bad example being set, and falling into sin themselves as a result.

I am an ordained minister, and I have served as a Pastor.

Right. So you are teaching this personal conviction or personal preference as Biblical truth. Okay. I think the picture is pretty clear now.

I believe this thread is going nowhere. Perhaps it's time to discuss something else.

Look, no matter what we argue and debate, the point is - "what pertaineth to a man" is not cut in stone, except in the eyes of personal bias.

Butero believes pants "pertaineth to a man", end of story.

The rest of us disagreeing with him do not believe pants "pertaineth to a man" any more than t-shirts or sweaters and thus putting a yoke on women that Jesus never meant us to bear.

No amount of argument or "evidence" is going to convince either side that they are in the wrong.

Truly, there is no life in us going around in circles like this.

So women, just remember that judgment is in the hands of God, not any particular man. It's not worth losing your peace over someone's opinion on another computer far away. I know oppression hurts, but you gotta let it go.

Gotcha, now I know his beef, agreed nebula. Its one of those beat the dead horse topics.

I'll never wear a dress. No man will see my legs except my husband and because dresses do show a little.

Now burka, to shut mouths, I'm all for it lol

Goes right over your jeans, you can disappear out of view for the service and simply rip it off as you step out into the parking lot. And throw it on again the following week.

$40 For church gear, wear the same thing, no worries.

I do have a question for you.  Based on that response, you must believe it is wrong for anyone to wear shorts, or capris?  Is that your position or am I taking you wrong, or are you just saying you couldn't wear those things?  Do you ever go to the beach?  Do you feel it is ok to wear a swimsuit?

I don't wear shorts, I do wear capri sweatpants at home. But no I don't wear shorts, or even go swimming or even own a bathing suit.

I have been at the beach many years ago, I went fully clothed, with one exception shorts to my knees.

I was never much into going swimming or going into the ocean, Ive always been like that.

I'm talking about my comfortability not others. Afterall I am the one who was judged for wearing jeans to the household of God. But the problem was never that I wore pants, the problem was they just weren't as nice as their stuff.

The pastors watch cost more then the car I parked in the church parking lot.

I just don't mind wearing things of lesser value then others, and neither do I covet what they have.

If you can't wear a dress because even a modest dress shows some leg, how can you wear shorts to the knees?  That doesn't make any sense to me?

Because I did once, years ago, taking my daughter to her first trip to the beach. I caved and wore them, and this after I had come to Christ, being honest.

Thanks, and I appreciate your honesty, and I respect the fact you feel so strong about being covered.  This shows how diverse we all are in what we consider right and wrong?  You can't even wear shorts and feel modest.  BTW, I don't wear shorts either, even in the hottest days of summer.

I have shared this before elsewhere, I wont undress in open public dressing rooms with other women, I was that way as a child, in fact I got detentions in school because I wouldn't change in the girls locker room.

I just felt uncomfortable. It doesn't mean I remained that way in all things at all times. I have had my before Christ times like everyone else, I don't condemn other women who can, or who wear shorts, or capris, I just don't do what doesn't feel comfortable to me.

I don't even think about it as being modest always either, just what I prefer which just so happens to appear modest is all.

John 4:19-24

The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The hour is here... God is less concerned about how we dress, what our past is, who our family is, what our culture is... God is calling us to worship in Spirit and in truth through Jesus Christ.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
