We're not claiming God says it is ok, though. We're saying God does not say it is wrong, therefore it is up to the Holy Spirit.

Notice "making melody in your heart". It is talking about the heart of the person, not the style they sing.

I agree with you Jon. It is about the heart and it is about the Holy Spirit to convict. I think we can't overlook words though.

but he did say spiritual songs in your heart its has to be a spiritual song I think by looking at the words of some of these rock songs it's plain to see they are not spiritual the melody in your heart should be a spiritual song hymn or psalm it's sooooooooo easy The words to these rock songs dont glorify God and that is the purpose of music period. If it does not lift up the name of Jesus then its useless

also for Super Jew to say that the verse deals means and deals with greeting one another is wrong if you read all of eph 5 it deals with how we should live the new Life in Christ Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

CHRISTIAN MUSIC SHOULD PRAISE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST — NOT MAN

Now, you would think this point is unnecessary for CHRISTian music. After all, CHRISTian means "a follower, believer of Jesus Christ". And if it is truly Christian music, it should testify, praise and sing about the Lord Jesus Christ.

The PURPOSE of Christian music is to PRAISE the Lord.

I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing PRAISE to thy name, O thou most High. Psalm 9:2

Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we SING and PRAISE thy power. Psalm 21:13

The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my SONG will I PRAISE him. Psalm 28:7

I also delight in calling myself a christian and music is a big part of how I worship and give praise to God. I am not very talented, but I listen to the words and when I hear something that expresses how I feel about God or good feelings or something I hope to aspire to in my walk--I can't help but to sing out. I LOVE praise and worship that we do at church before the service and I listen to a christian radio station and I also have cd's that I listen to at work. I will praise the Lord anywhere and everywhere EVEN AT WORK I do, on occasion listen to other music(jazz, trans siberian orchestra, and oldies and some top 40 and that's ok, I feel. I am shocked sometimes at the music today and the videos are terrible, I think. For me I have to fill myself with praise and worship(christian) music because I get what I NEED that way.

I,just for me,have to be careful what I listen to and sing along with because there is evil out there....and years ago(b-4 I asked God to save me) I listened to AC/DC and music like that and my kids say to me now "r u ever gonna listen to that again?" and I tell them that I just can't sing "Highway to Hell" and "Girls got Rhythm"and stuff(you get the picture )and feel good about it,you know what I mean?

anyway--I am rambling-But I feel,only for me,I get alot of good messages from the christian music I listen to--and it is about the daily living--day to-day that I need to hear.

Did you notice the requirement in Col. 3:16 — "Let the word of Christ dwell in you RICHLY" — A Christian musician should be a serious student of the Word of God! A Christian musician should "teach and admonish" in his songs because the Word of Christ s dwelling in him!

The Christian musician should KNOW the Word of God!
