How would a teenager be able to tell from Love and Lust, I know theres a difference..

Could it be that lust is just of the body and that love is from the heart?

IMHO- if you are in lust, you are the priority and God's will is not necessarily considered. If you are in love, the other person is the priority second to God. (and nothing wrong with desire in the context of God's will)

Not a conclusive description... just the thoughts of a flu foggy mind at 3 am.

Jem you are right, lust is of the body and Love is always from the heart.

I agree with the previous replies and I'd just like to add that not only teenagers have trouble with this.

Love is when you do something and does'nt expect anything in return i.e gratitude or appraissal. But ofcourse this is only my opinion.

This is just my opinion. You don't have to accept it if you dislike it. DISCLAIMER: I am not a christian.

I agree with Frank, and would like to add that love does not need or expect physical contact with the beloved.

LOVE can always wait, to bring fulfillment to the OTHER. LUST cannot wait to bring fulfillment to the SELF.

Greetings Jem,

Here are a couple examples of "lust":

Genesis 39:7-8 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. 8 But he refused, and said unto his master's wife, Behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand;

2 Samuel 11:2 And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

Here are some examples of "love":

Genesis 29:18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

You may want to read these verses in context, and also read the Song of Solomon.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Dad Ernie! WOW!! For years I have used the little proverb I quoted above, but you have given me the clearest possible Scriptural contrast by which to illustrate it. I am much in your debt!

Blessings.

PS: It's Thanksgiving Day, and we're on the net........it is clear we do not have lives!
