Will antichrist literally make an agreement with perhaps Israel and the middle east? (Daniel 9:27)
"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week and in the mid week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease and for the overspreading of abominations shall be the one who makes desolate, even until the consummation and that which is determined is poured out on the desolator" (DANIEL 9:27)

I had heard/read that the root of  'confirm' also means to 'enforce' - therefore it possibly could be that it is 'enforcing an already existing convenant' - such as the Oslo accords or pre 1967 borders.

Some of us also believe that the He in Daniel 9:27  is Christ Jesus.  Who for one week confirm the Covenant with Israel and in the midst of the Week, gave His life, and rose again.  The last part of the week was the fulfilling of  the Gospel going only to the Jews, these are why the 70 weeks are determined upon the Jews and Holy City, Daniel 9:24.

Christ was crucified in 30AD, and in 33/34 AD we read from the Book of Acts this message concerning Cornelius: When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.  Acts 11:18

Just a different view for you to think about.

Blessings to all,

I too always viewed the prophecy as fulfilled in where the covenant was between God & Israel....the anointed one(Jesus Messiah).....His ministry having been cut off after 31/2 years....the atonement for all sin of mankind and He brought in the Everlasting covenant(if I am wording what I want to say correctly-at 6am-lol)

Of course many prophecies are said to be two fold.....so I agree with Duggar, personally

So if your view is correct why then didn't Israel flee to the mountains according to Christs own words in Matt 24.  When you see standing in the holy place the A/D as spoken by the prophet Daniel, FLEE.  If this is the midpoint of the week and Christ died fulfilling this prophecy, business continued as usual.  No one fled.  It cannot be the same event, if not then another person is implied in Daniel 9:27.

The Tanakh

During the one week He will make a firm covenant with many.  For half a week He will put a stop to the sacrifice and meal offering.  At the corner [of the altar] will be appalling abominations until the decreed destruction will be poured down upon the appalling thing.

Daniel 9:27

When Yahweh (God the Father) sent us His Son Jesus Christ He sent unto us the Truest Hallmark Card for the Father cared enough to send us the very best.  So after Christ Jesus gave Himself as our final sin sacrifice what could be more appalling to the Father than to say even though Jesus was sacrifice for me to do away with sin once and for all, I'm going to honor Moses and offer animal sacrifices for my sin(s) --Hebrews 10:14-18; John 19:31.

IMO this is what the following verse describes:

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant , wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of Grace?

Hebrews 10:29

The Book of Hebrews was written to Christian Jews, and when one looks at verse 28 in this 10th chapter where the writer compare Moses and the Law, to the New Covenant it seems to me the writer is stating that to try to add the Jewish Sacrifices of Moses to justify oneself before God was to count the blood of Christ an unholy thing.

Montana Marv, if one only reads Matthew's Gospel I could see this problem you are alluding too.  But with the above passage in Daniel, along with a passage in Luke we can see that the early Jewish Christian did exactly as Jesus instructed.  For in Daniel 9:27 in the Tanakh we see that their is a decree destruction upon this Abomination of Desolation, in other words it would not happen within the 70 weeks period nor be judge immediately.  For is not this what Paul had stated to the Thessalonians in I Thessalonians 2:13-16.  So than although this appalling thing of animal sacrifices after Christ's Resurrection was the Great Abomination of Desolation it had it own time period which ends would be mark by the following:  And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.  Luke 21:20  This is the decree destruction upon the appalling thing.  We also hear that at Jesus second Coming He will save Israel which I agree with, but if the Abomination of Desolation is in Jerusalem, when He returns where is the Time of the Gentiles spoken of in Luke 21:24 and how shall the Jew be led captive into all nations?  In 70 AD just before the destruction of Jerusalem it was surrounded on every side by the Roman Legions, but around 66 AD after seeing signs of thee events to come most if not all Christian fled Jerusalem.  Titus gave orders when the Romans finally took all of the city of Jerusalem not to harm the Temple, but because of frustration with the Jews the soldier burned down the Temple.  The Romans had grew to hate the Jewish Rebels so much that they outright killed them (even woman and children) or led them captive among all the Nations, thus marking the Time of the Gentiles.  In 1967, the Jews ended the Time of the Gentiles, by reclaiming the city of Jerusalem.

Wow, I finally agree with your conclusion Marv, but I think there are those who would say that this did happen, when  according to Eusebius of Caesarea it was a refuge for Jerusalem Christians in the 1st century AD who were fleeing the Jewish–Roman wars.

If one looks at this prophecy (Dan 9:24-27);  This is all about Daniels people and Daniels holy city; Israel and Jerusalem.  This has nothing to do with Jewish Christians fleeing, but Israel as a nation.  The 70 sevens are only for Israel and Jerusalem.  Some say (those who believe the first 3 1/2 year period was fulfilled by Christs Ministry) that this abomination of desolation was Israels rejection of Christ

Israel and Jerusalem have six tasks:  1. finish transgression, 2.  put an end to sin,  3. to atone for wickedness, 4. to bring up everlasting righteousness, 5.  to seal up vision and prophecy, 6.   to anoint the most holy.     70 sevens have been decreed for your people and your holy city to:

Also there is no evidence that Christs ministry was exactly 3 1/2 years long.

Sorry, buddy, but there IS evidence that the Messiah's ministry was 3.5 years long. It started with Yeshua` being about 30 years old, very close to the beginning of the Sukkot festival (the Feast of Tabernacles), and then one merely has to count the Pesach (Passover) seasons to which the Scriptures allude, and the best way to calculate this is in a good harmony of the Gospels, such as Davies' Harmony of the Gospels by Benjamin Davies, Editor, ISBN: 0-89084-055-5, Bob Jones University Press, Inc., Greenville, SC 29614, 1976.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
