Being more of a KJVP (King James Version Preferred) type of person; I was wondering does anyone here know much about the Young Literal Translation of the Bible?

Look it up online, and I think I might even like it more than my beloved KJV.  Some verses I like in it over the KJV are Acts 12:4 reads Passover and not Easter; John 1:14 reads Tabernacle instead of dwelt among us.

YLT is one of the few Bible translations that pays attention to rendering verb tenses accurately.

Hi Duggar and God bless you,

I use the YLT as a concordance to my Bible Study when I feel like getting very"deep"(lol)....I aspire to learn Biblical Greek and am having a real difficult time of it(its all Greek to me-lol)and I find that as I cannot read Hebrew or Greek, Youngs translation seems to me to be the most literal,,,I like that he uses the present tense appropriately where  others use past tense(it just really comes alive and I enjoy it)....I have other Greek linears and such and they are very difficult to follow.

I have heard so many don't like it because of his literal translations of "age of ages" or aions instead of eternity therefore they find he is implying hell is not eternal but if you just compare it to when it is used to describe God being of aions then it is easy to see the meaning is eternal or infinite(forever and ever)....

I like using many translations and I always keep my good old KJV handy as it is what I am used to,funny ,I never see any contradiction in any of my translations.....after all,God is the Author and Finisher of our faith and the Counselor is always there to guide us with His Wisdom and Understanding....Glory to God...enjoy your studies!

Blessings Brother Butero!

Yes it is,I do have one and I also have the "New" Strongs also....Like I said to Duggar,I really enjoy these aids to Bible Study But you are "right on" in the deceptive works of the enemy....that is why there is no better guide than the Holy Spirit.....I thoroughly delight in reading the Word and I just do not see Gods Word ever contradicting Gods Word....

Every waking moment I want to be near Him,whether I'm cooking, cleaning, watching T,V,.reading(it doesn't matter)....but you know what the best part is?...............He wants to be near me even more!!!!

Thank you for your reply and God bless you and keep  you!

I think some of what Butero, wrote hits on it some.  I just see the devil whispering his first statement in the Bible over and over to the modern Church: Yea hath God said?  Genesis 3:1

You are falling into the same trap others are.  You are looking for a Bible based on liking what it says.  One reason I stay with the KJV Bible is so I don't find myself Bible shopping to find something more to my liking.  I could go through the Bible and re-write everything to make scripture say things exactly the way I believe, with no wiggle room, but that would be perverting the Word, rather than accepting it as written, whether it makes me uncomfortable or not?

There are spiritual things going on, being played out in the natural.  What is Satan trying to do to God's Word?  He is trying to get everyone to believe there are errors in the translations, so none are completely reliable.  Then you can claim to believe in innerancy of scripture, but only in the original manuscripts that no longer exist.  Since they no longer exist, and translations are not reliable, we can ignore anything we don't like, or come up with a translation that is more like we want it to read.

While I agree with most of your statement I do not believe that the KJV is the only correct translation of the Bible in the English Speaking world.  But would remind you that the Jews during Jesus time use at least two different texts, and if one reads Psalms 40:6 and compares it to Hebrews 10:5 in the KJV; we see that our KJV Bible use the Masoretic Texts in  Psalms 40:6, while the writer of Hebrews used the Septuagint for quoting  Psalms 40:6 in Hebrews 10:5.

A problem with relying on one particular translation only is that translations do not pick up on cultural references, puns, and the like. It takes other references to catch such things.

For example, why did Jesus say, "Verily, verily" before so many things He spoke?

It turns out that what He originally said was "Amen, amen, ...." But because we in English don't use "amen" before a sentence, it makes no sense to us why He said that. So translators changed the word to something else to try to convey the meaning, but it actually fails to convey what it actually meant to the hearers.

@ Nebula, that only applies if you don't take the time to understand the KJV Bible.  It only applies to a casual reader who isn't really looking to understand the deep meaning of scripture on their own and with the help of the Holy Spirit, but prefers to rely on someone making it as easy as possible.  When you do that, you take a chance the people creating the new translation's motives are pure?  Then there is that starting point matter again.  Start with a flawed foundation,  and you will have problems.  They should at least begin with the TR.

Would you mind giving some examples of how understanding the KJV only would explain such things?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
