The key to the time frame is found in why this became a factor in the first place, and how the perception of Abram is what lead to it, just as the eating of the tree lead to the same bondage for Adam as it did for Cain.

Numbers do not depict quantities but speak to truths that relate to a son being revealed in us, and this on the individual level, as well as collectively.

Man was created on the sixth day, 24 hours in a day, 144 hours, which is the measurement of a man, and the cubits of the wall of the city, as it is the fruit that the tree of life produces every year.

The language of God is only defined by God, so the Bible defines itself as to what a city, tower, pillar, tree, well, thirty, one forty, two forties, seven, seventy, three, tabernacle, temple, cross, sin, image, etc. is.

Hi ninhao. I'll believe what you said that there's no hurry in this, and so I will take the time I need to study these things we've been discussing. You've done your homework, and you deserve the same from me.

The family matters that I've been dealing with lately have taken so much of my time, so that I've only been freed today -- and for the time being only. But this respite of a few weeks should be more than enough for us to have settled our discussions. I plan to start my studies tomorrow, and I think I would need another whole week to finish it. That's okay with you?

So for the meantime...

Can we now agree that 1 million+ Israelites leaving Egypt is reasonable? The Biblically-supported number of around 600 000 men does reasonably give an estimated total of 1 million+ Israelites.

Next, can we now leave the matter of population growth behind? As you said, the equation you've presented is very subjective, and can be used to say what we want it to say -- and that is not good.

Last, can we no longer discuss the actual number of Israelites that entered Egypt? This is another can in the worm that I think we can happily do without. :P

And so... this will leave us then with the juiciest and fattest worm in the can to dissect: the actual years that the Israelites had spent in Egypt as slaves. The heart of the controversy, that is.

~

Yes ok Dak let's cull the numbers worms aside from the juiciest. It's an unfortunate habit of mine to investigate numbers. :D ( I think you suggested this earlier but I ran after the numbers ! )

I agree we may investigate years Israel was in bondage but remember to check if the total time of their sojourning is equivalent to the time in Egypt. Different translations offer differing perspective I think.

Exo 12:40  Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years. ( KJV)

Exo 12:40  Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. (NIV)

I hope your family matters are not troubling and we aren't in any hurry I think.

I will. But here's a tip for you. Don't use NIV and other versions that use dynamic equivalence translation (thought-for-thought) when checking matters like this for accuracy. Instead use versions that use literal translation (word-for-word) like ESV, and, though I'm not sure, KJV. (See also if ASV and NASB fall into this category.) Much is lost in a dynamic equivalence translation, and I simply don't trust it.

Anyway, the family matters I've been busy with are not troubling at all. Just a lot of driving around and other stuffs taking care of paper works....

Thanks for the tip and I agree. The NIV is an easy reader for me but not a study tool. :)  The NIV writers obviously decided the sojourning of Israel was indeed spent totally in Egypt.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
