Matthew 7:12 and D9

Um... I'm confused D9..

You are a non- believer?

This question isn't as simple as it may sound - you obviously like those words Jesus spoke or ..... What?

Just trying to understand.

Matthew 7 v 12:

12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

This is what confuses me ...

You probably like the words, but they "originate" from the Bible, which the contents, you do not trust/believe?

They obviously come from somewhere - where do You think they originate from?

BTW - I try my best to live by these precious words.

Also D9, hope you don't mind I put your name in the title - maybe I shouldn't have done that....:/

I would highly recommend that one know a person before they quote this scripture to them.   Back in my dark days I saw a person quote that to a guy in a bar and the guy said he lived by that scripture and proceeded to beat the guy with a short whip...

Turned out that the guy was masochistic and regularly beat himself with that whip.  Police said that since the not so wise person had invited him to beat him it was not against the law for him to do so......    and they all just walked away...     one kind of bloody...

No OO, I'm not quoting the verse to D9, he's got it on his profile, that's what got me thinking.

Hmmm.. Ok

So you were once a Believer, then somewhere down the track you disbelieved but still have a soft spot for some parts.

We know Jesus was quoting the 2nd part of the greatest commandment of loving The Lord God with all your mind heart and strength/soul.

Treating someone as we would like to be treated sounds simple but it's extremely hard at times, because their are moments in ALL people, where one feels another doesn't deserve it -

I'm glad you have a soft spot for some of the Bible but picking and choosing and trying to fix what ain't broke doesn't work.

It's a case of the opposite rather - I read it, study it, and realise I need the fixing.

My late mother in law also believed in living her life according to that scripture which she had shortened to "Do unto others." Having been raise a Catholic and joined both Baptist and Episcopal churches, she still had a rudimentry idea of Christianity but had never been born again that I know. So she had the satisfaction of knowing that she " did unto others", whatever that was. Her god was her pretty things which she stated was her greatest treasure. It is so sad that they may be all she will ever have.

Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, HOW SHALL WE ESCAPE IF WE NEGLECT SO GREAT A SALVATION WHICH AT THE FIRST BEGAN TO BE SPOKEN BY THE LORD, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him. Hebrews 2:1-3, & 12-15 BEWARE, BRETHERN, LEST THERE BE IN ANY OF YOU AN EVIL HEART OF UNBELIEF IN DEPARTING FROM THE LIVING GOD; but exhort one anothe daily, while it is called "TODAY', lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: TODAY, IF YOU WILL HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS IN THE REBELLION."

As long as we are alive, we are still able to humble ourselves and repent. The Lord is near tho those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit. Psm 34:18. No one has to live an empty worthless life.

She had no understanding of spiritual things. 1 Cor. 2:11-12. She had demonstrated disdain for the bible as well as for christians; they told us not to buy property near a church because of the resale value--no one wanted to live near a church or a cemetary. It was both her words, her confession, and her attitudes that led me to that suspicion.

She was civil and did the propper thing most of the time, and even tollerated someone calling the Episcopal priest to her death bed. At that time she repeated the Lord's prayer, and I suspect she mouthed the words to the hail Mary afterwards. We hope she had called on the name of the Lord with all her heart. We are not aware of any genuine confession of faith or change of attitude.

At the time they had joined the churches they were just social clubs to them, like a country club, that they had joined so he could get clients; He said the Elks club had got him more clients so he preferred it. Appearances meant everything to them The expression I heard most often was " what would the neighbors say." They became very embittered toward the Episcopal church which had billed them for pledged tithes at some time in the 50s.

It had been 50 years since she had attended any church prior to her death. She heard the Gospel at a funeral and came away complaining about that church because it was scaring people by telling them about hell. She complained about how long the gospel message took at our son's wedding.

I am trying very hard to mention symptoms and still honor her. She tried to appear proper and to be fair. But there was no love in the home. She was usually civil and did her best, I am sure. People who have not known God's love and forgiveness cannot possibly give it to others. But even the heathen love their own children......

The book of 1 John was written to tell if we are Christians and to discern those who are not. So it can better answer the general question, how can you tell if a person is born again? It is by its perameters that I had to eventually arrived at the strong suspicion that she was not born again. I had never met people who were so generally anti christian and heathen in their attitudes prior to our marriage. The difficulty I had in loving those who persecuted me was what led me to fully surrender my life to Christ. And I was able to eventually demonstrate God's love to her. She was a great blessing to me when my own dad died and she helped me to make funeral arrangements. I do sincerely hope that she gave her life to Christ on her death bed. At best I knew her to have a form of religion but to deny the power there of.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
