When is anger righteous, and when is it not?

Hello Dak. I think even in the time you have righteous anger there is the possibility you will act sinfully. Let me say I agree there's the time when your anger is condoned by God but what you do with that anger may not be. Hence in your anger do not sin etc.

Yes, I agree with you. I've never seen this matter in this kind of light before. And yes, I think that this is why I need more self-control, so that I will not sin when I'm angry -- even when my anger is righteous! -- and do only the will of God.

And that... should be very hard to do....

Thanks ninhao!

By the way, about our discussion in the other thread, I'll try now to make my post later today or tomorrow.

Anger is not always sin. There is a type of anger that the BIble approves, called "righteous indignation".Biblically, anger is God-given energy intended to help us solve problems.Examples of biblical anger include David's being upset over hearing Nathan the prophet sharing an injustice(2 Samuel 12) and Jesus' anger over how some of the Jews had defiled worship at God's temple in Jerusalem(John 2:13-18).

Anger at an injustice inflicted against oneself is also appropriate.Anger is a warning flag-it alerts us to those times when others are attempting to or have violated our boundaries.

Anger can become sinful when it is motivated by pride(James 1:20) when it is unproductive and distorts God's purposes (1 Corinthians10:31) or when anger is allowed to linger (Ephesians 4:26-27).We must act to solve our part of the problem (Romans 12:18).We cannot control how others act or respond, but we can make the changes that need to be made on our part.

I always found anger is always righteous when someone else is angry at me (and is therefore always this justifiable "righteous anger") but its never righteous if the tables are turned I ever am.

No siree, thats always unjustified

In otherwords its always righteous (coming your way) but never righteous coming out from you.

Or so it seems lol

This thread is a combination about anger and "the gifts of God is without repentance".

When Jesus turned the tables over, He was walking in God's will. He knew what was going on before He went in there. God does not lead us into battle blindfolded. He never has and never will.

God ordained what happened. God justified what happened. The gifts of God are without repentance.

Now, I would not suggest that someone go in and do something that they were not led by God to go do.

But, if God has led you in such a way, get ready, the wolf pack will bite hard.

Get in the Word and read, read, read. God will show you through the Word your ministry.

God bless you

Thanks Bopeep. I think you may have just answered my question.

However, the others also have valid points, and I have to consider them too, so I cannot yet give you the Best Answer award :)

@Bopeep:

I have here a button that says "Mark Solved." I haven't tested it yet, but I think that's what it does.

Also, I remember reading from the pinned thread about Worthy Q & A that the asker of the question (in this case, me) has already been given the ability to decide who has given the best answer....

Thanks for the reply. You gave a few interesting points. I'll be considering what you said about "the gifts of God are without repentance."

Just need to point out a couple of things though:

First, Jesus knew beforehand what was going to happen at the moneychanger's tables because he is God and he has that ability. We don't.

And second, I have found out in my life that God's leading has been mostly blindfolded, even unto spiritual battles. Isn't this our motto as Christians? Walking by faith and not by sight?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
