Me- like you, I'm confused about some carbon 14 dating results too. I believe there should be no measurable c14 in substances such as coal or diamonds over 50,000 years old. Yet, for some reason, coal, diamonds, and dinosaur bones have been shown to contain significant c14 to make their millions year old original belief to be absurd. I'm confused on this stuff too. Did Noah's flood cause this???

So, I hear you on this one. FYI, I've not embraced all the science thrown at me without some thought or questioning. When you are not an expert in these fields, like me, you have to rely on the experts to help you. Well, when even the experts don't agree, it can get very frustrating to us common folk.

For the record, I still appreciate all my brothers and sisters who I may not agree with 100%. I know you guys love God and his word and are fiercely loyal to keep out false teaching, as am I. I may not agree with what I perceive to be a lack of graciousness in the way you approach a discussion, but we all can't be perfect.

I will continue to reexamine these issues with an open mind.

I've been lied to, either knowingly or unknowingly, by my:  Parents, Sunday School Teachers, Priests, Pastors, Grade School/High School/College Professors, Military Commanders, Friends, Extended Family...ect.  The Lord bestowed his never ending Grace and Mercy on me and revealed HIS TRUTH to This Wretch.   I believe nothing but what the LORD has to say on Matters. 

 

If they have initials behind there name, my HogWash Meter goes into Hyperdrive.  If it doesn't line up with the WORD then it's as rags to me, Plain and Simple.

I may have been guilty of that "lack" Once...twice Tops    I'm Curt and usually to the point and that rubs people the wrong way.  I mean no personal insult whatsoever.  But when people come a half-steppin with some 13th Century Alchemy attempting to twist or distort the PLAIN TEACHING in the HOLY BIBLE then we will meet up eventually.  I don't know everything and if it's something in the WORD or science that I'm unfamiliar with then I will be still, shut up and listen.....then research it from every conceivable angle till there's not a knub left.  If it lines up, I will change my stance....if not well, to the outer darkness it goes.

I see the questions similar to "What's the big deal? The earth being 4.8 billion years doesn't negate anything.... God is the creator when 4.8 Billion years ago so what?", etc... "God could've created instantaneouslhy or 20 billion years ago..."

 

You miss the point - it's not about what God COULD do or COULD have done - it's what He STATED He did. Do we believe Him who was there at the beginning or do we believe the views of fallable man who weren't there? That's the underlying question.

Are you telling me that all those fossils got there not to mention those in the Ohio valley as a result of a deluge that lasted only a short time?

The Appalachian mountains are more worn down foremost.

 

South America and Africa obviously used to be attached.

I think there is something you have not considered in this debate of age-

No one knows to what extent the wrath of God has brought to bear upon the universe when

we chose lie over truth... we know death but to what exact extent God brought that about

and the penalties of creation bore in that instant We can see the results are

staggering presently in the calamities that testify of this reality!

Science looks at the particular of now to determine then- God speaks of then to the now of

a people in that time spoken and we being after must contextualize all this into an account-

ability of result. Taking that result and living that understanding for His Glory! By revealing

a wisdom in a people even though not being there and not ashamed to say I do not know but rely

upon God Who, in His Good Time, will reveal it... One most important aspect of when Jesus came

was to bear witness to a truth- into a darkness of the world 'That with God nothing is impossible'

Now when ever we place boundary or limits upon His Word we change this truth into lie and bring

The Creator into submission to His creation. bringing an exchange of The Reality of God to an idol

thus accepting darkness for light and lie for truth - the definition of lost in an eternal place!

God literally says heaven and earth singular I made in 6 evening and morning days!

Man demanding God to be in submission to His Creation says we see this now and

therefore what God says of then is not so... or we cushin it by redefining day

as a long frame reference by the manipulation of God's Word (helping God out so

to speak)... all the while knowing God says My Word is established and all I Say

When scientists analyze these rocks and compute the ratio of argon to potassium, they can determine how long it's been since the lava cooled. When scientists date rocks from our planet this way, the oldest dates they find are 4.5 billion years.

By dating the lava flows above and below a fossil find, scientists can put exact boundaries on the maximum and minimum age of that fossil.

With radioactive dating, scientists can now get within a few percentage points of the actual date. They know this because they have been able to accurately date lava flows that happened recently enough for their dates to be known historically, such as the eruption of Mount Vesuvius at Pompeii.
