I cannot understand your position brother. If a man asked you at the gas station for money to buy food would you tell him "get a job"? Would you look on a homeless person in shame because their house burnt down less than a year ago?

no, i would not give them money,

there is ( was ) a man that would sit at the medium strip going into the mall ( strip mall ) at Imperial Beach, where the Nabvy Federal Credit Union branch is, and this man had a sign that read, WILL WORK FOR FOOD OR MONEY

he did nothing but panhandled, legal panhandling, I asked him some questions, found out he was receiving about 500 bucks aday sitting there in a lawn chair, and some times just on the concrete..... the man never did any work.... but because he was "offering a service" he stayed within legal bounds of the law as far as panhandling......

i will feed a person, but will not just hand them money, i will cloth a person but will not hand them money......

most are scams to get money for booze or drugs..... or to avoid having to cook some beans and rice..... i will not give money for some one to eat a meal at sonic, but will buy them a weeks worth of food to cook at home....

the same goes for people asking for money on the internet, and those with commercials..... and the same with some of these fund raisers.... love the ones that call and compliment me on supporting them for the last several years and i have never heard of the organization.....

have had people call me the day or two before Christmas saying they are with such and such organization, and they are asking for donation for stuff for kids... sorry, but the day before Christmas is tooooooooo late...... that reads SCAM in big big big bold letters.........

Hello Shiloh 357

I quote shiloh357 :

Seems to me Matt 25, is obviously talking about the Hungry, The Thirsty, The Destitute, The Shut in.

I see no context to interpret this as a political statement.

He is talking about people who need our help not just Jews.

He is talking to

Hello shiloh357

I am sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I had other pressing engagements. I had also, to find time to do enough of a study to give you as complete an answer as possible. And to be sure that my own contentions regarding Matt:25, 31-40, were indeed true.

All other questions aside for the moment.. I must admit our opinions do radically diverge on the interpretation of Matt:25, 31-40.

I respectfully submit that I believe more firmly now than before that it is your interpretation that is taking the broad view. The context speaks clearly and directly to exactly what is stated: the hungry, the thirsty, the destitute and the shut-in

I would leave a few pertinent quotes and extrapolations from a text on the subject:

The Forgotten Americans

Thirty Million Working Poor In The Land Of Opportunity

By: John E. Schwarz & Thomas J. Volgy

Pub: W.W. Norton & Company 1993

The facts stated are documented in the book.

Millions of American with incomes above the official poverty line arenot counted as poor even though they cannot afford adequate food, housing, clothing and medical care for their families.

The actual number of Americans experiencing working poverty is more than double the official estimates. Including family members, nearly thirty million people

You offer nothing that would even begin to approach a solution!.

Yeah, getting an education and working extra hours is to you, not a solution. It is not the easy way, but it is the way things are/ought to be done. I work two jobs, and I don't whine about it. I just knuckle down and do what has to be done.

But they are definitely forced through circumstance.

If they do not want to depend on welfare they must work and if the only jobs available offer below subsistence wage, then guess what. THEY ARE FORCED through circumstance. FACT

No they are not forced through circumstance, at least not generally. There may be some with bizarre issues and circumstances, but the general populace is not forced to work in any particular job that they do not want to work in. They can go and look for better jobs.

These people do not have the privilege of not showing up for work so that they may attend classes in fact a good percentage of them have high school diplomas.

I just graduated from a community college along with several single mothers who went to school in the evening, worked full time during the day, and still they still managed to make good grades, and they have gone from delivering newspapers and waitressing, to being dental assistants, paralegals, system administrators for companies with expensive computer networks. Some of them have gone on to be accountants, and nurses' assistants.

It all depends on how bad you want to succeed. No one is owed the American dream. It is something that takes rugged individualism, and a drive to make your life better, and your family's life better.

These single moms are better off now than before, and make as much 40% more income than they did in their old jobs.

It seems to smack of a most uncharitable attitude that the poor are destitute do only to their own stupidity and indolence.

No, only their laziness. If they want to make their life better, they can. There are plenty of people whose lives prove you wrong.

It seems to me to seek to demonize the poor and destitute.
Show me where I demonized anyone. I simply responded to your nonsense. I did not put anyone down or disparage them because they are poor.

To say all this is

I watch people struggling to get by day in and day out.......

most of those tend to eat out rather then eat in ( at home )

bunches of them have big screen TV's and stereo's to beat all.

and the cars they drive, l lot of them have cars that cost more then my house.

one inpeticular has three pick up trucks, and two sedans, there are only two licensed drivers in that family, but every month, they struggle to make ends meet.

most people are just living beyond their means ( not all, but most ).

these are "Christian" people, they say trust the Lord. Yes, I do, I trust the Lord for my survival, for my food, which comes from the work the Lord places before me.

If i were to say I trust the Lord for my food, and a job comes up to earn some money to buy food, and i do not take it, then my faith is dead for my works are not there.......

if the Lord wants me to go from this place to that place, and I say, the Lord wants me to go over here, and I do nothing, I am not being obedient to the Lord....

if I receive my pay check, and i pay my tithe ( 10% ) out of duty, and say the Lord will take care of me, and i squander the rest, the Lord has no obligation to do anything more for me. God done His part.

if we can not do good with what the Lord has given us, then what makes you think God will give you more?????

if a person can not be a good steward over the things they already have, then how is it God will want to increase it?

are we really good stewards? that is how we can show God that we really Love Him and that we want to do right....

God will take care of each and every one of His children.....

God has set before us an example to fallow, instructions on how to live our lives, on how to handle money...... most people would rather remain in bondage then to break free and do what the Word tells them to do and tells them how to break free, but like the Israelites, they were in Egypt, and when they left, they was ready to go back at every little thing, they were never satisfied with what they had, and then they were afraid to even step forward and take the land in which had already been defeated for them, all they had to do was go forward, but they were scared, they were comfortable, adn would rather die in the wilderness then to take the Promised land......

even after they entered into the Promised land, many.... most of them were afraid to take what was ggiven to them,, they would rather live in tents and eat from camp fires then to take the land and use the buildings and homes that were already there.....

most people today are afraid to go forward and use what God has given them to the fullest extent.....

people have accepted the Gift of Salvation but have never opened it to see what wonderful treasures are contained with in the Gift of Salvation.......

we have Power, Power over principalities, we have Power of Prayer, we have Power to press forward.......

we have the Fruit of the Spirit, which we are to develope,. but instead of developing it, we tend to try and separate this fruit, we want peace, but dont want to share the Joy with others, we want love but do not want to share it with others... we can not do this, the Fruit of the Spirit is not to be separated, but to be used and shared with others, it is ONE fruit, not 9 different fruits.......

we also have the Power of healing, every day healing that we take as being only for some people WRONG!!!!!!!! this is for all of us, this healing is different then the healing that one receives as part of the Gifts of the Spirit.... the same as with Faith, we are to have faith, the Faith found as one of the Gifts of the Spirit is SUPER FAITH........ faith that is placed on a person as is needed by the Spirit....

God has given us all the resources we need to survive on this earth, if a person is makeing minimum wage, they can either grumble or rize up above it.... this is the powe God has given us, we do not have to walk in defeat, but most Christians do walk in DEFEAT, they are pressed down and broken... we have the POWER to get above this....

IT IS YOUR CHOICE..... YES, YOUR CHOICE TO LIVE WHERE YOU ARE OR TO RIZE UP ABOVE THE SITUATION......

AS FOR ME, I CHOOSE TO RIZE UP ABOVE EVERYTHING THAT IS NOT OF THE LORD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AS FOR ME, I HAVE DEFEATED SATAN AND HIS WAYS, I HAVE DEFEATED BONDAGE, BY TURNING IT OVER TO THE LORD AND FOLLOWING THE LORDS WAYS..........

AGAIN................

IT IS YOUR CHOICE TO STAY WHERE YOU ARE AT, OR MOVE FORWARD

where would Abraham be if he stayed put? where whould Lot be if he stayed put? how about Job? where would he be? how about Elija? and Elisha? where would they be??????

where were you 5 years ago?

where are you today?

what did you do to get from where you were 5 years ago, to where you are today?

if you continue on as you are, where will you be in 5 more years?

most people will be in the same place in 5 years from now as they were 5 years ago.

that move is YOUR CHOICE !

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
