Where Should We Move To?

I want to live away from hurricanes, icey/dangerous roads, large inner-city crowds with heavy crime demographics, where people are generally friendly, church-communities, with people of all ages.

I'm fond of warmer climate....Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, New Mexico, Arizona....and generally places that understand the words, "Sweet Tea" and "grits".

I love the ol' houses with screen doors and acreage where the cats can run free in the yard or lay up on the front porch.

I don't wanna spend a ton of money....I like old houses, as long as the roofs aren't falling in and the drywall isn't caving in from water damage.

I like friendly towns where people are NICE, people and animal friendly and who are generally PRO-family and PRO-Christian.

Any ideas? Is this just a pipe dream or does such a place exist?

I'd love to live on the farm with Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz with Auntie "M"....and love to just be around kind hearted country folk.

Any thoughts?

Secondly, I am LOL @ your post - we are planning a move to Florida, and are looking at houses next summer. You want to move out, I want to move in. Want to trade houses? LOL

I would love to live someplace where its' quiet. A small town where there are people with the same values that I have. I'm not sure those places exist anymore. I was born and raised in Michigan. It's a beautiful state but it's very crowede and it's cold in the winter. I live in Southern Calif. Here it's hot in the summer, it's becoming more and more crowded and I don't like that. Unlike you I don't like the heat, I like the cooler weather. You said something about Arizona I wouldn't live there if it was the last place on earth. Much to hot. There are some beautiful places there like, Prescott, but you had better have about a million dollars to live there. There are lots of small quaint towns on the east coast but it gets cold there. I love the east coast but can't get my husband to budge. In the south your going to get warm weather but very humid and your facing tornados. I would really check out some towns on the east coast. Check into states like New Jersery, Maine, New Hampshire...Rhode Island. See what you can find that you may like.

Nah.......Tennessee has winter!! That's one of the places we could move to, but I nixed it quickly because of that.

Cat, I found a small town in Florida that only has 533 families. It looks like a very nice place and we will be checking it out next summer. Maybe will can be neighbors.
