I just think managing money should be something

that you speak to God about.

Amen~! And At Lest While We Are On Worthy,

For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you,

an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God. Philippians 4:16-18

Let God Speak To Us

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:19-20

In Their Business Endeavors

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart,

so let him give; not grudgingly,

or of necessity:

for God

a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

And To Be Blessed With Even Greater Joy

In Their Giving, No Matter How

Little It May

I find more people are interested in producing children that know how to make wealth, then children who know how to make converts

when the truth is finding contentment in what ever prediciment one finds themself in, riches we see can cause problems for a believer, I prefer to neither be so rich that I forget God nor so poor that I find a need to steal

Prov 13:22

22 A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children,

NASB

You are not supposed to give it all away.

One should put enough back to live on without being a burden to other people....    and in some form that is there is any left over their children should receive that.   You can give and help others without putting yourself into the poor house.    Planning for retirement should start when you are 12 years old.....   if it does and you plan well, you can have an income for your needs without being a burden on other people while helping some around you........     and remember that some people never run out of needs and the more they receive the more they need.....

We should also remember that Paul taught that people who can work but don't should not receive help from the rest of us.   No work, no food...

We lived Dave Ramsey's teaching from the early 1970's and we are living examples that it works.

One should also remember that at any time the world financial system could crash and all our savings would be gone, so a little gold and silver should also be at hand for food and shelter for a year or so.

While I do agree that people should use cash until they are out of debt and have a years needs put back, but once you reach that level, there are several credit cards that give rewards and cashback such as Discover and it is advantageous to use those cards for most purchases for they are basically free money back to you.     Great care has to be taken to insure they can be paid off each month and thus the years safety account is insurance for this.   Once one has mastered credit and paid it all off, one should have developed the skills not to get back into debt.

I agree it is important to leave something for the next generation. Other One, I guess you were following the basic principles of 1) spending less than you make, 2) saving for a rainy day, and 3) investing for retirement early on.

Funny enough many people don't endorse gold including Warren Buffet and Dave Ramsey.

As far as credit cards...

What do you think of this below from NerdWallet? Seems like people who use credit cards may save 1-5% cash back or mileage but end up spending more... So save 1-5% by rewards but spend 12-18% more by using credit cards as opposed to cash? Or in the case of a McDonald's purchase almost double what they'd buy in cash?

It turns out that multiple behavioral economics studies back up these assertions. One of the most often cited studies is one conducted by Dun & Bradstreet, where the company found that people spend 12-18% more when using credit cards instead of cash. McDonald’s reports its average ticket is $7 when people use credit cards versus $4.50 for cash.

I don't spend anything on the card that i wouldn't spend with cash.......(secret to doing that is to keep two years spending needs put back for cash flow)  That way you can do what you want when you want it as long as your cash flow fund stays above the minimum that you have set up.

I was taught Dave Ramsey's theories from my childhood (67 years ago) and we've never been in debt other than house and car payments, and we paid  off our last four cars with no interest......    we also paid cash for the Winnebago.....   Well actually I put it on my Discover Card and paid it off on the next billing cycle (no interest)....   that was a good sized cash back month.

We have double life annuities that we spend less than half of to live on so with inflation that should last us for 20 years or so and we haven't even touched our 401k's yet.  Hopefully that will go for our grand kids college costs.   It's drawing 8% interest....

What I spend extra at McDonald's is to reach over in line and swipe my credit card in the line next to me when it looks like the people their are having financial problems....     and every chance I get I'll pick up a policeman's check when eating out, just for the respect of what they do.  We have lived frugal our whole lives whether it's cash or credit card..

I joined the Facebook group......      I feel so blessed that I had the parents I had, and my wife's also.   Most of our lives we put about a third of our earnings in investments.    More than that if you count Social Security.   Most of the people in the Facebook Group are in real financial messes....   It's going to be hard for me to post much there.

Is it easier to give 20 dollars away or 20 million?  If that's all you had?  Now I don't think you should go homeless or wearing second rate clothing, but no need to go overboard and buy insane mansions and what not.  I just think managing money should be something that you speak to God about.

I think stewardship is what a lot of Christians think about when talking about money and personal finance. There seems to be a lack of teaching on stewardship though. Instead, it seems many evangelical churches simply resort to teaching the concept of the modern tithe.

While I agree managing money should be something we consult God on we should also be pro-active about learning how to better manage the resources God has given us. That would allow more missionaries to be sent overseas, more Bibles to be published and distributed, more Bible translation resources, more outreach to the community by local churches to spread the Gospel... The list goes on. All if we managed our money better as children of God. ;)

God bless,

GE

Why not children who are equipped with the Gospel and who know how to be good stewards of what God has entrusted them? Why does it have to be an either/or kind of situation?

Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding you...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
