I'm not sure you can secure an area like the one they were marching down in a foreign country as they do here.  There also wasn't a lot of time to do so.   It only takes one guy with a 50 cal rifle to take someone out from a half mile away if they are good.

Yeah, but it doesn't like it was an issue for security personnel for the other world leaders.

The point is that it was an excuse, not a legitimate reason.  No other world leader, not even Benjamin Netanyahu, who is hated viruently in France, had a problem with this.  His security detail would had to have been extensive.

Our president is simply showing why he is an embarrassment and a disappointment to this country.

you can't compare our security people with Israels...   apples and oranges.

You're right....  Their security is far better...   They have to be better.  Their Prime Minister is the most hated leader on this planet, hands down.   Israel has to be better.  Their security is second to none at airports on planes, and when their leaders are in other countries.

LoL  maybe so with most of the rest of the world, but surely not at my house  LoL...

This president is a complete disgrace.   He can't bring himself to admit that Islamic terrorists are, in fact, Islamic terrorists.    The rally in France would have been a tacit show of solidarity with France against Islamic terrorism and that is something the president cannot bring himself to admit exists.   He likes riding in Air force One  and he has the luxury of running to the golf course, or to a fundraiser when he has to do something that bears any semblance to governing.

What really stinks in all this is that even Mahoud Abbas the leader of the terrorist organization called "Fatah (PLO),"  a man who is a holocaust denier and is unfit to even be included in the human race had the nerve to show up at a rally against Islamic terrorism.   But, President of the United States, the leader of the free world,  a Nobel Peace Prize winner no less, can't show up at a rally to stand in solidarity with the world against Islamic terrorism.

I would propose that Abbas was there, marching among heads of countries, as a political move. If he is seen among heads of states, and walks among heads of states, then he is recognizd as a head of state. It lends politically to Palestine being an independent recognized state.

If Obama did not go because he didn't want lend credence to the Palestinian state, that just might be an excuse. But, Obama is pro-Palestinian, so I doubt it.

Well, it may well be that he just wanted to stay home and watch the ball games.....    he's so full of himself from my point of view that there isn't room to care about much else.

Yeah, if it's not about him, he isn't interested.

Other One, still praying for your neck.

as for obama not showing up in paris, whether fear or anything else, it has come out this morning that his secret security detail was never even asked about going. it was simply never brought up. obama had no desire to go and made no effort whatsoever. it was simply never even a consideration.

A Secret Service official said the agency was not asked to draw up security plans for a potential presidential trip to Paris in advance of Sunday's march.

"We weren't asked or notified about a trip," the official said. But the agency had Secret Service agents on the ground in Paris, per its standard operating procedure.

"It would have been a challenging advance ... based on what we know," Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary said. But Leary did not say that such an advance would have been impossible.

During the White House briefing, Earnest suggested security challenges were a factor in not having the president travel to Paris. But Earnest acknowledged the Secret Service could have pulled it off. An agency official noted previous "last minute" presidential trips have happened during the Obama presidency, including a hurried visit to South Africa in December 2013 for the memorial service for Nelson Mandela.

The administration also claims they didn't know about the rally, but I don't believe that for a minute. I don't believe much of anything coming out of this administration.   If weren't' for the fact that every other world leader knew about it was able get their teams together and be at the rally, this administration might be able to make a case as to why they just couldn't make it.   It's their job to know what is going on in the world and it was on the news just a day or two before the event.   It was in the news at more than 24 hours before the event.

On one side of the conversation I agree, no heads of state in Europe came to the US when we were attacked, why should we go there?  Granted, that would be quite petulant for a head of state.

On the other side, the US should have been there to support our ally, even though France hasn't been a very strong or reliable ally in the war against islamic fascism.

I'm sure the President deserves all the criticism he gets, he's proven in the past that he doesn't have thick skin, so I'm sure he's pretty urked at this point.  At least he got to watch the play-offs in the comfort of his own living room. . .

But, to send no one, or to have his AG there and not attend the rally, seemed quite insincere and looked like a snub from the US.  Why would the Administration snub France?  Well, we know the President has thin skin, and can be very petulant at times.  My guess, he snubbed France because they didn't join the coalition against ISIS.  That is something a petulant and vindictive person would do.

Regardless, it's been the policy of this administration to lump all types of extremism into the same category, though honestly, dancing around a bonfire in a white robe and yelling vile, racist and prejudiced insults into the night is on a completely different level of extremism than I don't know, beheading/killing every Westerner you can find.

So, if the President had gone to this unity rally, he would have had to face the fact that islamic terrorism is real and is the only "extremism" the world should be worried about.  The President refuses to believe this and continues to promote his belief that islam is a religion of peace, when the entire world knows that to be untrue.

He would have undermined his own credibility by attending this rally and would have had to admit that his own foreign policy has been wrong for the last 6 years.

Do you really believe this is something a thin-skinned, petulant, vindictive, narccissist would do?

From a British perspective....

1. Obama's no show hasn't really been commented on. It was a bit impromptu, 'local' (i.e. in the main other European) leaders got there, others didn't.

2. France was the first country to join the US in bombing ISIS in Iraq. Seriously. They got there even before us Brits did, and we like a good war or two. Have absolutely no idea where the whole 'France isn't part of the anti-ISIS coalition' came from.

3. The slandering of Britain by a Fox News 'expert', one Steve Emerson, has got more hackles raised over here. You'd think he would have checked his facts before declaring that Britain's second biggest city is a no-go area to non-Muslims. The city that gave us Black Sabbath and has the largest St Patrick's Day parade in Europe outside of Dublin? Very Islamic, that. Just makes Fox News look stupid using that idiot and failing to question such a ridiculous statement.

4. The people who did go who had no right to be there. Why were the Russians there, given their clampdown on press freedoms?

On a personal note, I don't think any politician (with the exception of Hollande, naturally) should have been there. All the nations should have sent their satirists instead. The likes of Bill Maher- who although his personal politics may not be everybody's cup of tea but is someone who has constantly said Islam is evil- and Salman Rushdie and others who face the same threats from Islamic extremists standing together would have been better than a few politicians getting some PR material.

That is actually largely my bad.  I posted a reference to an CNN article about who's in and who's not in the US lead airstrikes against ISIS in Syria which does not apply to Iraq and so was misleading.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
