In the beginning of the universe what was there? Was god around before the universe for infinity? Where was he? Where is he now, and why wont he come out into the open and fix the earths problems. Where was his infinite love when the tsunami killed hundreds of thousands of humans in asia? Where was he for the millions of people that die of cancer every year? Or the captured soldiers being tortured to death by the taliban? Did he spare them? Why are there so many cries for help to a god that hasn't solved anything? Why are there sick starving children? It is said that he flooded the earth once, he removed the sinful humans, but why did he make us with evil in our hearts if us being evil angered him so? I have tried, asked, begged to God for a sign that he is there, just a simple sign. I have gotten no sign, no way to know if there is anything to wait for. What if there is no god? When you die would you simply ceise to exist? If there is a god were we made for his amusement? And when he got bored of us did he just leave? I want to believe in something but I just cannot believe with no confirmation. Faith is belief in the un-believable, the trusting of the supreme being that has given no evidence of his existence. I wish I had faith, something to believe before I die, but as of now I just don't know.

An interesting dilemna, Muktuk.

Where was God? Everywhere where there was a where, even if there were no 'where' there!

Where is God? See above.

Why won't He fix earth's problems? Earth's problems are man's fault, for our disobedience against Him. In His love, He is even 'fixing' that! If He has chosen His own way, and His own time to do the fixing, that is His decision to make.

Where was His infinite love when the tsunami killed so many? Exactly where it is now: Lamenting that man is so wicked and sinful that even nature is revolted! And still saving from sin those who will to be saved.

Where is He when people die of cancer? See above.

Etc., etc, etc.

You think "He made us with evil in our hearts"? That is a very strange belief. The Scripture says that 'every man sins, when he is led astray by HIS OWN LUST, and enticed...." God made man pure and innocent. Our first parents brought the calamity of sin into our race by disobedience. God is still honoring His word, that He made man the master of this planet, and will not interfere with our decisions.

Just what kind of sign are you looking for? The extreme complexity of the universe itself is the greatest sign of all. The fact of existence itself proves a Creator. If you can't see a sign of God's existence, you're just not looking...... Screaming a lot, but just not looking.

What if there is no God? What does it matter, then?

When He got bored, did He just leave us? I can find no evidence for the idea that He left us........

Again I must ask: "Just what sort of 'confirmation' are you looking for?" God is speaking SOOOO clearly! Get your fingers out of your ears, and the blindfold off your eyes.

"No evidence"? Now that is just preposterous! Perhaps you have decided not to believe the overwhelming evidence--that is your prerogative--but please don't play intellectually false by saying the evidence does not exist. I think you must be person who actually has a lot of faith, for it takes tremendous faith to deny what is clearly seen!!!

Hi Muktuk...Good to meet you.

There are no easy answers to the questions you ask.

G-d has always been...He was not created...He is the Creator...we can only guess at what was in the Heavenly realm before He created the Universe.

There are always going to be disasters and tragedies in the world...it is part of the natural laws that have been set in motion...winds ,earthquakes, volcanoes, fires and other phenomena...it is possible that many more lives could be saved from these things if people worked together and had better alerts and a much quicker response time.

Many countries are full of wars and murders and repressive religions and regimes that demonstrate the evil to which mankind will sink in order to dominate others.

Disease and sickness too are part of the human condition...there are various factors governing the spead of these things Aids and heart-disease in particular...and many of them have not been helped by mans failure to abide by certain natural guidelines and therefore we have a certain responsibility for some of the results.

Most distressing of all are the things that happen to innocent children who have no choice in the matter...whether contracting various lethal diseases, abuse, caught up in war or the victims of starvation and suffering...again many of these situations are induced by the nature of man....and the responsibilty and the blame falls more on us than it does on G-d...but we do not easily own up to our own short-comings.

As to the sinfulness of human beings...G-d made man perfect but gave him a free will and the freedom to choose...he did not make him an automaton that would automatically stick to the rules...man messed up and as a consequence developed a sinful nature...but somehow in the great scheme of things G-d has used this to bring about something amazing...whereby man can be forgiven and restored to a good relationship and know the Living G-d and be aware that he will die but also know that he will be ressurected...this has been particularly evident since Jesus the Son of G-d was revealed to the world.

Mention should also be made of the adversary of G-d and enemy of mankind that we call Satan or the Devil...it is his desire that we do not believe in Jesus and become born-again...it is his desire that we blame G-d for all the evil in the world when in actual fact he is the enemy and he has caused evil men to do wicked things to others.

He is happy if men worship him and other devils in all their various guises through strange religions or even similar religions and will even pose as G-d if it will deceive people into worshipping or following him.

He is subtle and cunning and is also happy for people to deny his existence as long as they slip quietly and without fuss into eternal damnation then he has done well.

You remarked...

Faith is belief in the un-believable, the trusting of the supreme being that has given no evidence of his existence.

I do not believe this is the case.

The whole of the Bible claims to be inspired by G-d and all the accounts given in it are in respect to a people Through whom G-d chose to reveal Himself to the world...namely the Jews...culminating in the Saviour who was born into a Jewish family. We have written down for us many of the words of Jesus that we can read for ourself and judge whether they are true or not...on top of that there is a wealth of historical and archaeological evidence that we can compare and contrast with the Bible to check out if these places, people and events actually took place or are some vast conspiracy built on myths and legends by good storytellers.

Yes you need to come to a place of faith and trust...where you repent and cry out to G-d for forgiveness...but this is not based on nothing or some sort of intellectual vacuum where faith is unreasonable...but G-d leaves it up to each of us how we will respond.

You can know G-d before you die,and be forgiven and have eternal life.

You may not get all the answers to everything in this life...but you will be able to trust G-d that in spite of the things going on in the world He is in control and He does not make mistakes and He will judge the whole world fairly when they stand before the L-rd Jesus.

On a final note....the bulk of the disasters in the world and the ongoing famines and disasters all have a strong core of Believers that love G-d working to alleviate some of the suffering...they too may not understand everything...but they know how to respond and demonstrate the love of G-d in a practical hands on sort of a way.

My friend I hope this sheds a little light on to some of the very real questions that you are struggling with...you are no different from the rest of us...we all have times where life is very difficult to make sense of sometimes...may G-d help you in your desire to search for truth. Best Botz.

Greetings Muktuk,

A lot of good answers to your post, I hope you take heed of them. May I suggest that you get a Bible, a KJV, NKJV, NIV, RSV and begin with the Gospel of John and as the Lord leads, read through the rest of the Bible. All your answers are right there in plain view if only you will take the time to examine God's Word.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Yes but is somthing perfect capable of sinning? If man was made in gods image than man should be perfect, right? And when I say come why doesn't god come out public i mean why doesnt he come out with a booming voice across the earth that everybody can hear and just say wich belief is true, instead of letting people choose the wrong religions or beliefs and go to hell?

We were made in His image, in having a triune nature, body, soul and spirit. We were given the choice, and failed that choice. We were never created to be like Him in the sense of perfect little gods.

The Lord did come to earth and speak. God the Father spoke at Jesus baptism. Even then, some rejected the Lord. God has given us all the proof necessary. Our sins have already condemned us. The Lord has given us a way out of that condemnation, if only you or any other person would just accept Him.

Ah but is there any more proof that god exists than there is that the eqyptain god Ra exists? Just an example of course but god did not write the bible with his own hand. In the bible it speaks of unbelievable miracles that defy all modern science, but in the last thousand years nothing has happened. Why is that? Why did god not spread plague on America when the Africans were enslaved as he did with the the poeple of Moses? Most slaves in america were christains as well, but they had to wait for our own law to free them. He spoke when Jesus was around, then why not now when the world needs it the most.

The bible is a book written by men who were inspired by the Lord. The bible speaks to us about the fall of man and the plan of salvation the Lord had prepared for us. Once Jesus came, fulfilled His mission, and the church was established, then there was no more need for anything else to be added to the bible. As far as miracles, they happen every day, all over the place. It is interesting that you want to know why America didnt have a horrible plague when we had slavery, yet earlier criticised God for the tsunami. Your reasons are not His reasons. We cant begin to try to guess why God allows some things and not others to happen. We do know that He sent Jesus, who paid for our sins, through whom we are granted salvation. At some point, we have to take responsibility for our choices in life. The Lord has told us about salvation. You have heard about Him, and about Jesus. If you wish to know more, any one of us will gladly tell you. The responsibility is yours on what you do with this information. He is a wondrous and mighty God. I am grateful that He has been present in my life, and loved me enough to send Jesus to die for me. Praise the Lord.

Greetings Muktuk,

GOD HAS SPOKEN AND HIS NAME IS JESUS:

Hebrews 1:1-4 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Read your Bible, it does wonderful things for the soul.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
