Greetings Super Jew,

Are these rhetorical questions or you really don't know?

1) What do you think it means to have a Christian worldview?

An individual's worldview simply boils down to what the person believes. Christians follow Christ and the tenets laid forth in the Bible.

2) What is the content of a Christian worldview?

The Bible, primarily the NT.

3) Do you make a distinction between the sacred and the secular, the eternal and the temporal in the Christian life? If so, what is the reason for and the content of this distinction? If not, why not?

Yes, the sacred has to do with the one true God and those that He has set apart for His service. The temporal has to do with this creation and the eteranal with the heavenly/spiritual realm. Either you follow Christ or you follow the world.

4) What is the purpose (are the purposes) of a college education?

To gain knowledge and learn (hopefully) how to use it.

5) What do you think liberal arts education is about?

A dabbling of a little of this and a little of that, unless you are an artist of some sort, the education you get there does not prepare you for the job market.

6) Are we all in full time ministry or just pastors and people of their sorts?

There is basically a 5-fold ministry in the body of Christ and each member should be able to operate in one of the ministries.

7) Are ministers in more of a ministerial position than laypeople are?

No, we are all designed to edify the body of Christ in the capacity to which we are able. Are some more responsible than others? Yes. To whom much is given, more is required.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Whoa there, Amigo! One at a time!!! These are some of my favorite subjects in all the world, and I could easily write a book in reply to each question. Check out the writings of the late Francis Schaeffer.

Are these rhetorical questions or you really don't know?

Neither, they're meant to spark a discussion.

An individual's worldview simply boils down to what the person believes. Christians follow Christ and the tenets laid forth in the Bible.

Why does a person believe what they believe though? Is not a worldview shaped more by expirience than beliefs. Afterall, we can believe anything, but until we face an expirience that contradicts this belief what use is that belief?

The Bible, primarily the NT.

Wouldn't it be equally true that a Christian's worldview affects how they view the bible. Thus how can we use something to strengthen our worldview when our worldview affects the thing we use?

Yes, the sacred has to do with the one true God and those that He has set apart for His service. The temporal has to do with this creation and the eteranal with the heavenly/spiritual realm. Either you follow Christ or you follow the world.

Wouldn't you agree that it's dualist to seperate the heavenly/spiritual realm with the created realm? After all, are not both intertwined and interlinked? Why must we seperate the two?

A dabbling of a little of this and a little of that, unless you are an artist of some sort, the education you get there does not prepare you for the job market.

Do you understand what a liberal arts education is?

I'll take a stab at that one. This is the reason my son is working hard at college and why he and we are making the sacrifice for him to be there - and why my other son is going in the fall - to get the required knowledge to secure a job in the future that will sustain he and a family in such a way that they won't have to struggle in a paycheck-to-paycheck existence.

Do you see this as ministry?

1) What do you think it means to have a Christian worldview?

A viewpoint of the world that is based on Scriptural principles, one that is based on what we believe the Lord wants. Hopefully it is one that we do not have to think about, one that is deeply ingrained in us from our love of God.

2) What is the content of a Christian worldview?

Im not sure I can fit it all in a post here. See above for short version, what God wants.

3) Do you make a distinction between the sacred and the secular, the eternal and the temporal in the Christian life? If so, what is the reason for and the content of this distinction? If not, why not?

I lived in the world for a long time, both as an unsaved person, and as a saved but more carnal Christian. I think because of that, I am seeing the distinction between secular and sacred a bit more readily than most. The content of the distinction is a bit hard.

4) What is the purpose (are the purposes) of a college education?

It depends. For me, to have a job, to learn, to grow.

5) What do you think liberal arts education is about?

:noidea:

In my day, it was about an education. Now I wonder if it is about indoctrination of false ideas....from some of the things various college people are telling me.

6) Are we all in full time ministry or just pastors and people of their sorts?

I had not even considered that I was in any ministry until last year...when someone pointed out to me that God was shaping mine. (Remember Chief?) I used to think it was pastors and laypeople, now I think I regard everyone as being in the ministry to some extent. Yes there are pastors, but laypeople are also in ministry in one way or another. Hmm, clear as mud?

7) Are ministers in more of a ministerial position than laypeople are?

That may depend. Are all ministers called to their position? Are all laypeople doing the work God called them to do? Is pre-marital counseling with a minister any more valid or important a ministerial action than a layperson helping someone get through an illness?

No, I do not think they are in more of a ministerial position. They may have more authority by their position, and more training, but all people can be equal in their ministry work.

I have nothing to support that on. It is just my gut reaction.

Someone who follows Christ hopefully has that experience in Christ to have that worldview. Its about the relationship to the Lord. That is an experience.

The guidance of the Holy Spirit.

No. While everyone of us should use wherever we are as our "mission field", I don't see this as ministry. Just what needs to be done to make our time here as pleasant as possible.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
