I think we all can go through the archives and find interesting subject matters, but why take a thread that has been dead for years and reply to someone who is no longer here?  It would seem that if the topic is important enough to someone, they should start a new thread on the subject, put some serious thought into it to entice others to discuss.  Surely, if someone years ago said something that started your wheels turning, lube them with more thought and research and offer more than just a simple reply.

Just saying ...

I really don't see the importance of when a topic was started.  I don't even think it matters if the person is still around.  If the topic is interesting, why not bring it back?  Yes, you could start your own on the subject, but what difference does it make?  I rarely like to do that, but what is the harm?

That is the way I look at it.I am looking at the topic of interest.

Did both of you miss the part about responding to someone who no longer is here?

it is a great thing to do for a few examples, 1) it brings up current thoughts and ideas that was not used.

2)it is hard to go back and start from the beginning like us new to the site,3)it is good because situations change all the time and sometimes what was wrote may not stand as the same now in the today, 4) this is very informative to use for many things have changed, and scripture and besides, it helps new people and others to learn,

If the the old thread has like a billion pages that no one has commented on in a while, maybe it's worth starting a similar thread with a link to the old one? :noidea:

This is why George was for a while, archiving the threads that had been inactive for a while.   But the archiving caused a some glitches about the time the site was moved to new servers.

What difference does it make if the OP is still around or not?  Someone is here reading it, aren't they?  Maybe I won't have seen the original post made 3 years ago, but someone comes along and responds to it today and now I am blessed by it.  I just don't see the big deal.
