I think that most people can pass on the knowledge that they possess and call that teaching because it

is indeed teaching at a rudimentary level. However to take up teaching as a way of life, career or vocation

even in a part-time sense is a very different story.

Teachers of the Word a blessed by God with a spiritual gift for their ministry... that's rare in comparison to

most believers. The ability to speak to different people types and learning styles takes a lot of understanding and

patience. Plus there are aspects of teaching that are for exhorting the student to practice what they've learned and

also a teacher will inspire students to learn. Educating yourself with courses in teaching would be wise because a student

isn't looking for just anybody to instruct them... there must be a certain respect for the position of the teacher in the students

mindset. We're called to choose our instructors carefully and who to go to for wise counsel. Educating yourself also improves

your own understanding of what you're teaching. Teaching others' is also a learning experience as the teacher must come to

understand the student in order to guide them properly in the ways they should go and the things that they need to work on

harder. It's not a calling for everyone and God demands a lot extra for teachers, saying things like:

Matt. 18:6... but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great

                  millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.
