But I often compare with ESV and do like it. NASV New American Standard Version is considered the most faithful to its text, but I don't prefer its text and it does not flow in English. ESV is better in that regard. These are all literal translations, which I most recommend. KJV and ASV use antiquated language like thee and thou, and some words have changed in meaning since King James. I love the Amplified Version but it also does not flow so total comprehension declines a little. But I love word studies which it includes in the text. NIV and others are not literal translations so I trust them less.

Read what you think you can understand, I believe your English is good enough to read the ESV in English? Are you still looking for a Bible? Guest BacKaran
I enjoy the ESV, English standard version but I also have J MacArthur's study bible. I'm not familiar with the king James version and it's use of an old language I found it was confusing. Ray Comfort has a great study bible called the Evidence Bible. Blessings to you.? It's easy to understand and there are no verses left out like in the NIV and no editing some verses to leave out important info. MIne is a Life Application Bible. However, if your wanting something thats easier to read, my go to is the English Standard Version.

This forums stayed always in my mind, but I was too busy with my autistic problems... Now I have some more time to study my Dutch Bible, and that is right what I am doing! I have a really, for me, big question. That question still bugs me a lot, so here it comes. Which Bible is the most standard one in English?? On my wishlist of my favourite book-store is the "ESV MacArthur Study Bible". But I just want a plain simple Bible, just like the Dutch New Bible Translation, called in Dutch "Nieuwe Bijbelvertaling". Which Bible then do I need in English, if I want a normal English Bible. I don't know which to choose... Can you, brothers and sisters, help me choosing the right one. I'm not a native English reader, but I would love to read His word in English! Thanks and Blessings, Rik Hi, You're going to get a lot of opinions here. You write English very well so a lot depends on how well you know English. I speak 3 languages, so here's my opinion: The easiest bible to read is the NIV -New International Version. The truest to the Greek is the NASB New American Standard Bible I would suggest the NIV for anyone who knows Enlish by having studied it unless they have a Ph.D. after their name. You'll find many Americans trust the KJV, King James Version. Many Americans do not understand this bible. Many feel it is the inspired bible. Every bible is inspired and will contain the Word of God. I would choose by which one I UNDERSTAND the best. Probably the NIV. That's my two cents worth (which mean my opinion doesn't mean much, but I still think it's the right one) Fran Edited January 18, 2017 by Fran C
