Why would Native Americans destroy horses, since horses became their main mode of transportation?  Something does not sound right, and I have never heard of this.  As to camels, not sure how camels entered into the New World either.

But what about these figures with regards to their unusually high suicide rates?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/native-american-youth-suicide-rates-are-at-crisis-levels_us_560c3084e4b0768127005591

I never said life was perfect on the rez. I lived on one for 2 yrs so I saw firsthand how bad it was. But its still an improvement on how it was prior to the white man.

One big problem with the high suicide rate is the lack of jobs and the overall oppression they feel. Because the tribal govt technically owns the land, and the feds dictate business conditions, the tribes have a hard time getting businesses to come to the rez.

There are other factors too. One time that I know about, a tech firm came to the rez and wanted jewelry makers to work for them, because they were used to fine detailed work. The natives were happy to have a good paying job. Then AIM came in, the native equivalent of blm, and claimed it was exploitation. (It was not exploitation.) But to avoid constant battles with aim, the business (I think it was general dynamics) opted to shut down, with a resultant loss of jobs and income.

Another instance I know about, a drive in movie theater in the phoenix area was on tribal land for decades. Their lease was up and they wanted to renew it. The feds refused to allow them to citing limits of how many times federal law would permit them to renew a lease. So the tribe lost income, the drive in closed, and the land is abandoned and unused.

Then again, given something that happened recently in arizona, why would a company want to have a business on the rez? A company spent millions building the skywalk at the grand canyon. After it was done, the tribe claimed sovereignty and took it over, shutting the business out of it. Nothing anyone could do about it since it was on tribal land.

Pleistocene overkill. Clovis man, the natives that were here, drove herds off cliffs as the easiest method of killing for food. Thats why there are not native horses or camels any more. They also managed to make the mammoth (or is it mastodon) extinct in the americas.

Camelops is an extinct genus of camel that once roamed western North America, where it disappeared at the end of the Pleistocene about 10,000 years ago.

Well that explains why I did not know about the camels. I wonder what else I do not know?
