It does not clearly state that it is not allowed

It really isn't about what's "allowed" and "not allowed". Thank God we don't live by rigid rules and in fear. (And I don't blaspheme, that is a sincere thanks.) It's about what God says is wrong - and He says it's wrong because it is bad for us. Like a loving Father, He wants to keep us from what will harm us. And he uses strong language to warn us. Abomination, unnatural, perversion.

If one is a Christian, one has an inner desire to please their Father. They don't obey because it's "not allowed", or because they fear what will happen to them, that only brings about resentment. They obey because they sincerely want to please God and have put their own pride aside out of understanding that their Father knows what is best for them.

Very well said, WIP! Especially what I emphasized in bold and underlined. Being a Christian is not about doing what you can "get away with". That's just attempting to justify our own desires and behaviors.

Humility is a key to living out our daily Christian walk with and before others and God. Our desire should be to please God and do what He would do, say what He would have us say and act as He would have us act. This also includes hating what He hates.

Thank y'all for responding. I know homosexuals are just people like us who love differently. I am not a judgemental person however. I just think it is weird. I want very much to please my Father. I am a Christian and have been since '98... :emot-partyblower:

Hi before I post this I want to clarify that I studied Psychology and Socilogy A-Levels, I am graduating from the University of Nottingham (the best University in the UK for theology according to all the inspectors) with a B.A. Honours Theology degree this summer. I am also planning to start training in September 2006 to go into the ministry and get ordained as a priest in the Church of England.

The Christian Right believe homosexuality is an unquestionable sin and,

A lot of quotes by a lot of supposedly learned writers, but not a word from any of God's selected authors. The science of psychology and sociology has nothing to do with the rights or wrongs of homosexuality. It's what God says about it, that is our concern, not a bunch of lecturers with degrees. We on this board take our teachings from the bible as instructed by the Holy Spirit.

I'm not trying to be rude by raining on your parade, friend, but you will find that most people on this board like to stick to biblical facts.

cheers,

eric.

Gothic Christian provides some interesting and valid information. Having same-sex desires is usually not a "choice" and we should have compassion on those who struggle with such urgings.

However, ACTING on those desires IS a choice...and a sin.

By nature I ,as a woman, am attracted to men. I am married.

Acting on those "perfectly natural" desires, with a man who is not my husband, is a sin. Plain and simple.

I recognize the heartache, trauma, brokeness and betrayal, that often is beneath the homosexuality.

I love the sinner, I hate the sin.

Heck I hate my own sin.

Peace,

Fiosh

Hey, Gothic -

There is much you do not understand.

Sin is a choice. Just because a person does not realize he or she is making a choice at the time, and just because "the big sin" at the end of a series of choices was not intended, does not make it "natural" nor even "justifiable."

One important element your paper fails to to present is the testimony of those people who have been delivered from homosexual behavior through prayer and counselling. For instance, I heard a testimony from a woman who had been a lesbian, who after becoming a Christian found from Scripture that homosexuality was wrong and hooked up with Exodus International to help her out of this lifestyle. Through prayer and counselling, she re-evaluated her own past and discovered for herself that throughout her life she had indeed made a series of choices that led her towards this "same sex attraction." As she repented of those choices - the things she had done in response to situations, she found herself more and more free from her attraction to females. Now, she is learning, and enjoying, what it is to simply be a woman and dress womanly and act womanly.

Your presentation also fails to acknowledge what the Bible actually says. Many Christians feel offended by a person who will call him or herself a "Christian" and yet challenge the words of Scripture - as if he or she was superior to the written Word. Many Christians especially feel offended that a proclaimed "Christian" would value the "wisdom" of psychology to the WISDOM of Scripture.

Who is your god, anyway? The Holy Lord of Hosts? Or have you made God to be in your own image and to your liking and following what you believe God to be and not Who He says He is?

No, there is much you do not understand. :noidea:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
